look at it this way, we lose soldiers all the time in Baluchistan and KPK. going into Afghanistan will give us trade route, minerals, and motorway and trade can be extend to kabul, mazar e sharif, herat, and to kandhar quetta.

Pros are lot bigger than cons, as soldiers will always be hit due to gun culture in baluchistan kpk and afghanistan.. once u start increasing the education, lifestyle of ordinary afghans like pre 1979 USSR invasion, it will be a thriving region..

India will be fully neutralized, and western threat will go away.

Why is China not bother geo-politics in Afghanistan? It wants to buy Afghan minerals at cheap low cost but makes no effort to stop its rival hostile Delhi from finding a foot hold in there? Is Beijing not interested in Security? China will regret it in the very near future. If they continue to support Kabul buying loads of minerals and turning a blind eye to kabuls funded militancy in neighbouring ally Pakistan.

Modern China's geopolitics are the opposite of what Pakistan was taught by its western masters, which is kinetic war, propaganda, espionage, backstabbing, proxies, economic warfare. The Chinese are also wary of walking straight into the trap being set up for them, eg invade Taiwan or get involved in a decades long war in your neighboring country. The Chinese do not play the game others want them to play, which severely frustrates the West.

China has given Pakistan a chance to transform itself vis CPEC and is giving Taliban in Afghanistan same chance, but both countries are misunderstanding what the Chinese want. Part of this is on the Chinese who are not explaining how they transformed their country over the last 40 years, their vision of Belt and Road and what they now expect of Afghanistan and Pakistan. But if this Afghan-Pakistan conflict keeps up, it's quite possible China may simply wash its hands off both countries and wait for more intelligent leadership in the distant future.

If we had invested in infra instead of armed suppression on the borders it may have been possible. Now there is no chance. We can’t even handle a small number of insurgents occupying Afghanistan is a death warrant.

Also lives of regular Afghan citizen was not great before soviets.

The way things are going it’s going to get way worse. As usual those who I cannot name have tunnel vision and seek some immediate wins but none of this will result in a stable Pakistan or a terror free border.

I don’t think it’s worth even debating though someone on here was saying the kids deserve to die as well as they will be poisoned in the future. You have folks of this mentality in power how can you expect any nuance in approach.

any lull in the operations and negotiations have been used by the terrorists to regroup and rearm. the tunnel vision is among these elites in their plush homes in front of their phones and computer screens criticizing the operation against these groups who have openly declared that they seek to bring the state down and wont settle for anything less.
