Our natural allies in Afghanistan are the Tajiks and other groups who would not like Afghanistan to have even one more Pashtun, as that would erode their power.

I never understood our agencies obsession with Pashtun nationalists as they would inevitably target Pakistan as well once in power

Latif Pedram and his types are the ones we should be engaging with. Not only do they align with our interests but are also much better for soft power. The amount of damage Pakistan had done to its image by aligning with the medieval khwarijis called the Taliban is something that will take generations to repair.

100% this should have been the De facto policy since day one. The extreme nationalists have had an axe to grind with Pakistan since 1948. But of course stupid people thought oh we have Pashtuns they have Pashtuns everything will work out, duh!

Like I stated before be it Taliban be it westernised Afghan extreme Pashtun nationalists they are on the same page, and will back each other to the hilt to take Pakistan down.
An urgent meeting needs to be arranged and real help given to them, to rid themselves of Taliban rule. These other groups hate them and how dare they try to enforce their bull$hit on them.

We can start with the Wakhan Corridor where we can work directly with Tajikistan.

Boots on ground possibly?

FC could do the funniest thing in the world by planting ieds in every nook and cranny they can find... Such an uno reverse would be so funny

You would think ISI would be using all the tricks in it's playbook by now. I still think we have decided to let them have a face saving way out, which I feel is a mistake

It is more than a mistake. It is pathetic. At this point Pakistan needs to punish Afghanistan to the maximum.

I wouldn't be surprised if China and the Saudis are pressuring Pakistan.

Bro, it will take a year or a bit longer for the leadership to wake up and smell the coffee.
It’s a long term follow up strategy. Not in lieu of punitive strikes/raids but alongside them. Kill/capture raids really struck fear in the minds of the Talibs during the ISAF years, but the loss of civilian life alongside those raids alienated the public and kept the TTA recruitment up. Carefully planned capture missions can go a long way in the psychological part of the enduring mission to ending this threat.

Similar to these raids. This is why Pakistan needs a larger heli-borne air assault commando force.
