Wonder if IRGC got all the live weapon testing data they needed.

The results haven’t been impressive given not a single ship sunk with 100+ munitions (drone, cm, bm) expended during this testing run.

Obviously Houthi’s aren’t using the latest (or strongest) in Iranian weaponry, but they aren’t using the worst either.

Is itbfair to say mostly subsonic weapons have been used. They tend to be easy to intercept, however does provide useful data on how the US and coalition of the oppressors react with their equipment

I agree. I believe, however, a logical extension of current results provides a pretty stark outlook for Iran’s opponents. That being said, on the battlefield chessboard her opponents have things up their sleeve too.

I’m confident all this is being considered and absorbed in Iranian war gaming.

I also believe that Iran’s opponents continue to not only underestimate Iran technically but intellectually as well. Good.

these ships are massive and lack AD so should be a lot easier to hit but harder to sink

US-led air defence coalition has failed to protect a lot of these ships so it suggests they can get through even in smaller numbers

I'm not an expert, but i am sure there are a ton of factors to take in account for sinking/damaging different kinds of ships, not the same materials, not the same weight, not the same hull/design, not the same cargo

What i imagine on a real US warship is if its CIWS or turret gets struck and the ammo compartment exploding in mass and doing a snowball effect. Or worse, its VLS compartment struck by a lobbing ASBM, imagine the effect it could make

There are tons of factors to take in account for these questions

Judging by the level of damage that we have seen I am doubtful that the missiles fired by Ansar Allah actually have live warheads. I wouldn't be surprised that this is a measure to reduce the likelihood of killing the crew members on the civilian ships!

I think many are severely damaged or out of service. Regardless, Bab el Mandab crossing is at the pleasure of Ansarullah.

Battle damage assessment is important though for tuning if needed.

The financial loss vs damage ratios have been enormous for the US too.

At the end physical sinking is secondary to to real impact Ansarullah has had.

Hundreds if not 1000+ ships past thru the Red Sea and Arabian Sea on a near constant basis.

If you only managed to hit a “few”, that is statistically not significant. Iran managed to hit a “few” back in the era of silk worms and Cold War radars.

There is not a navy in the world that could protect every ship along a massive coastline and narrow water way. Not happening. If roles were reversed and Iran had the strength and size of US Navy they too would put up similar effort.

So all in all, the US navy has actually performed well. Given they have to cover hundreds of commercial ships in a major body of water from anything as small as a tiny drone to ASHBM.

It’s the US airforce that has performed somewhat poorly in not being able to degrade Houthi anti shipping capability enough. That is not a suprise given that Saudi Arabia wasn’t able to do it for the entire Yemen war using US targeting data and intelligence.
