JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

IMHO it is Option 2. The Chinese will be on board for this because it'll mean possibly more sales for them. There's no danger of tech leak for them here. However, JF17 with a Turkish radar and weapons stack will be a great selling option. It is too painful to do Option 1 technically.
what about JF-17 block 3 compatible radar complementing turkish BVR? and the delay?

@hasssanali8998
I know about Azerbaijan-Turkey ties and I've heard these turkish ammunition for JF-17 Block 3 rumors too. But I'm struggling to see how this works:

Option 1: Integrate Turkish missiles with the Chinese KLJ-7A AESA radar and avionics? I doubt China would allow that—they tightly control their tech, especially radar/avionics and in turkey case they will definitely adhere to these control.

Option 2: Swap in full Turkish radar, avionics, AND munitions? That's no small task! It'd basically mean like redesigning a new aircraft—tough testing, years of delays, and huge costs.

Plus, Turkey's MURAD AESA radar is liquid-cooled, while JF-17 needs air-cooled for compatibility. No air-cooled Turkish AESA exists yet, so integration sounds very much difficult.

I'm no aerospace expert, but from what I've learned here, this feels way more complicated than it seems.
@JamD @arslank01 @Oscar can shed light on that
what aseem said

also, as far as i know, a NRIET guy was caught on video being interrogated by a pak kid asking about the KLJ-7A, he said it was equipped in a liquid cooled form.

The air cooled stuff im sure is just for ease of backwards compatibility, perhaps it is indeed a liquid cooled solution here and then air cooled for retrofits etc

Do turkey have a comparable radar and avionics? how much time it will take it too be fully integrated and tested and okay for production? i guess it will take couple of years before starting production?

as far as i can tell turkey is just slapping murad on everything, so probably a scaled down version of it to fit the JF-17s nose-

And how can CHINESE AVIONICS and TURKISH WEAPONS communicate each other without CHINESE AND TURKISH SOURCE CODE INTEGRATION on Azerbaijani block-3 JF-17?

Jf-17 is coded in C primarily if turks agree to integrate translation layer from Ada which is nato standard to C it shouldn’t be that hard

I'm sure we'll get more pics and videos of all 5 aircraft over the coming days and we can check whether they include numbers all the way to 328.

@Pakistan Space Agency, kindly take a look at the serial no. of left aircraft
