Kadena Air Base only has permanent F-15s, and F-22s are only stationed on rotation.

The WS-13 and WS-21 series engines share a similar core structure to the original RD-33 series engines.

The main reason for this is:

They are primarily targeted at the international trade market. Their target competitors are the RD-33 series engines and their subsequent upgraded model, the RD-93 series. In addition to the JF-17, fighter jets equipped with these engines include the MiG-29 series, which has a very broad international customer base.

Thus, their basic structures remain consistent. This significantly reduces maintenance costs for their target customers. Maintenance platforms and ground crews for the RD-33/RD-93 series engines can easily transition to the WS-13/WS-21 engines in a very short period of time.

As for their performance data, I have nothing to say.

The design of the RD-33 engine is not very advanced. I learned from some students majoring in aeroengine that although the RD-33 structural design does not lack some advanced and sophisticated technologies, it is generally complex and backward, like a hodgepodge.

The implication there is that I'm referring to the US continental based F-22s don't have the range to fly anywhere near to the western pacific. There are F-22s based in Japan. That category falls under the 1-"mostly". Fucking talking to a potato here.

Note:
This refers to the J-35A, the official PLAAF version.
It does not include the naval carrier-based J-35, which is officially called the "蓝鲨(Blue Shark)."

In theory, the export version of the FC-31/J-35 will continue to use the PLAAF's nomenclature, meaning it will also be called "Cloud Dragon." However, until the official announcement is made, this is just speculation.
