I think we all grant that state policies and interests shift. They are never constant. What made sense then does not today. Mistakes are made and adjustments just the same.

At this time, the need is to tighten up the borders and curtail trade to penalize the Takfiris ruling Afghanistan.

In the past, we wanted free movement of Afghans into Pakistan given the occupation then.

As such in statecraft, there is no bar on things like not maintaining consistency, or worrying about hypocrisy, or even course-reversal when it comes to national interests. We need to close our embassy/consulate in Afghanistan, and close theirs in Islamabad, PERMANENTLY.
DEPORT all afghans back to their land and let them live in peace with their real cousins, the indian hindutvas. That will be a match made in heaven.

I see that you live in Pakistan so there's heavy influence of Indian media on you likely, and other Pakistanis wanting to live peacefully with the savages next door. In the West, the Indians (of all colors and sizes) have been openly siding with the White Supremacists against Pakistanis and Muslims, but mainly Pakistanis. They openly pushed for demonization of Pakistanis and try to join hands with the Ultra White Nationalists across the Anglo world. The Whites have caught onto this, and other manipulative behaviors by the Indians. Across the Anglo world, Indians are getting m*rdered in high numbers the past few years. There have been multiple gRape of their women by White nationalist Anglo pigs in England and the perps shouted racist things while doing the deeds. The Sikhs - instead of standing up to this (since it was their women that were Graped), went and basically chalked it up to mistaken identity by the attackers as they thought they were attacking Pakistani Muslim women. These Indians are continue to join forces with the anti-Muslim crowd - meanwhile that very crowd is anti-Immigrant towards everyone - not just Muslims.

One more correction. There is not ONE war the Afghans have ended in a stalemate (forget about winning) without outside support. They lost to the British, Soviets dominated them and Americans did not lose a SINGLE tactical battle against them. These are historical facts.

All the talk of "graveyard of superpowers" etc. is propaganda. The superpowers lost interest in a land that gives little and is landlocked. What is beyond Afghanistan is what was of interest to the occupying powers, not Afghanistan itself. In an odd way, they were lucky that they got invaded because whatever development/infrastructure you see in Afghanistan today was built by the Soviets and Americans. On their own, they could not muster much. Also remember, our people laid down their lives to sustain the original Muj who eventuallly gave way to these thankless Takfiri bastards.

So all those who try to warn and scare Pakistan with this need to realize what happened on the ground. Not that Pakistan has any interest in "invading" Afghanistan. Just stating facts here for posterity sake. Hope better sense prevail in the minds of these Takfiri bastards.

It's also important to differentiate between the "Afghan" identity and the "Muslim" one. For example, many rulers from Afghan lands (either native to Afghanistan or descended from Turkic or Persian peoples) went on to conquer the lands of today's Pakistan and India.

However, these rulers didn't do it for the sake of Afghanistan or Afghans, but for some other supranational sense, be it Islamic and/or to build a dynasty in their name (and some shifted to the lands of Pakistan and India today, e.g., Delhi Sultanate, Mughals, etc).

These historical figures are not the same stock as the nationalistic Afghan figures that emerged during the Afghan-British Wars in the 19th century. Sadly, like us in Pakistan, the Afghans too inherited a lot of bad apples following WW2.
