I believe Iran is a more natural and suitable partner for Pakistan and we should pursue our relations to greater heights. Iran was one of the first countries to recognize Pakistan and even supported Pakistan in the 1965 war by providing access to its air bases. Moreover, Iran offers an overland bridge to Turkey, Azerbaijan, and parts of Central Asia to expand our economic outreach. Iran and Pakistan also share concerns about instability stemming from Afghanistan, and I think durable peace will require firm, coordinated policies on cross-border security and migration. No complaints - they have every right to play smart here - building ties with who were supposed to be our "strategic assets".
