So, during lunch with coworkers from my Motorola days, the topic of SpaceX and Starlink came up.
What Musk is doing with Starlink is what Iridium should have been. Iridium was years ahead of its time but with poor execution.
Remember who the parent company of Iridium was.Iridium wanted to be a hardware player but they just didn't have the resources of Apple.
Even Google has only been a bit player in the phone biz with its Pixel.
People want SpaceX to build a phone..but they know that is an uphill battle.
Remember who the parent company of Iridium was.
Is there a count of the total number of Starlink satellites launched to date?
btw this is a good reference if you wanna keep a track of total starlinks in Orbit (the Totals Section). I know 84 Extra launches since the 19th, but this one shows an extra 6 though.WOW! Seriously! Wow!.
I did not know that.
Kudos to Musk for his vision and literally make space flight a viable commercial venture.
And I'm glad he's out of politics. I remember him vigilantly visiting the manufacturing plants, spending days and nights planning, talking to the people. Spacex (Especially Starship Program) clearly seemed to be suffering as he got distracted with politics.WOW! Seriously! Wow!.
