With their current designs, tanks likely wouldn’t survive. However, the key point is that the Altay isn't being deployed here. Instead, the entire ecosystem capable of producing such a complex vehicle is being utilized. Advancements in armor and power pack technology are particularly significant.

As for the Altay, if an effective anti-drone solution is developed soon, it will be implemented, allowing the Altay to maintain its current design. If no such solution is found, other types of vehicles will be created, and the Altay project will be canceled. Nevertheless, the ecosystem will remain intact, ensuring lasting benefits. The Altay itself doesn’t manufacture but helps develop other solutions.

The BATU-powered ALTAY is expected to be ready by the end of 2026


BMC Power has accelerated testing and development work on Turkiye's domestically produced powerplant, BATU.

The 1,500-hp engine and domestically produced transmission are being integrated into the ALTAY Tank

Cruise and climb trials are being successfully conducted on the ALTAY.

Anti-drone mesh, strong jammers and automated machine guns can all take out drones and applied to Altay. The tank is still and will be an integral part of land warfare. Drones can't take and hold land, they can't provide fire support for hours against enemy positions, they can't relay human thoughts over communications in the thick of battle etc.

I assume that's the reason why they don't produce the tank in very large numbers even though the facility and production infrastructure exist. They're waiting for BATU.

Its all based off the Rhienmetell gun. lol

Turkey's gun is based off the South Korean gun, which is based off the German Leopard 2 gun.

Altay gun can fire any munition the leopard 2 can fire.

Officially its a MKE gun.
