Congratulations to Turkiye on this milestone, the journey was made harder by some people(countries) but Turkiye got there in the end through hard work. A date in history for Turkiye. I am very happy for Turkiye today.

As tanks go(!) ,it is a beauty, just a shame it is too heavy for Pakistan as I would have loved to have seen it in PA service.

Now that the powerpack and chassis issues are resolved, it does mean that it can be used as the basis of a self propelled howitzer design (to compliment the T-155 Firtina at some point in the future) as well as other items as the Russian were planning with their T-14 design concept.

Production is ongoing, they delivered tanks last month and will continue to deliver periodically as it scales up further.

Türkiye’s Altay Main Battle Tank has been equipped with the SAR 127 MT 12.7 mm heavy machine gun, developed domestically by SARSILMAZ. After completing all qualification tests, the system is now ready for active operational use.

All Altay tanks delivered to the Turkish Land Forces Command on 28 October 2025 feature Remote Weapon Systems integrated with the SAR 127 MT. The weapon offers semi-automatic and fully automatic firing, right/left feed options, a quick-change barrel, and full compatibility with BEST Defence RWS platforms.

The integration highlights the growing capability of Türkiye’s indigenous defense industry, strengthening Altay’s battlefield effectiveness while also positioning the SAR 127 MT as a potential export solution for allied nations.

They are providing Turkish with free stress tests of Supply chains and self reliance. Its like a vaccine to the real thing. If they hit hard embargoes in a war, that actually would hurt, trying to manage that, but they have been hitting soft embargoes and that does stress tests, but not hard enough to cause damage.

An engine embargo is the harshest embargo that can be imposed against a country

They imposed all kinds of embargoes including engine to obstruct the ALTAY project

Türkiye, on the other hand, developed its own systems including engine and transmission in response to all the embargoes.

It just took time .... But that didn't stop us from reaching our ultimate goal.

Even if they impose an embargo in the event of a possible War, it won't make any difference .... Turkiye now can produce all weapons for the Turkish Army including a Tank without being affected by embargoes
