In order for us to install the Altay turret on all our Leo's, the Altay needs to be in mass production. In order for mass production to truly begin, we must have solved the issue of domestic engines and domestic transmissions.

As for the engine and transmission issue, that file will be closed permanently in 2-3 years . From that moment on, we will be able to install as many Altay towers as we want on our Leo's.

In fact, everything except the domestic power pack in the Altay Project was completed to be 100% domestically produced. Let me state this for comparison: When the Altay Project started, it was planned that all critical components would be produced in the USA or Germany. It was planned to localize the foreign components gradually and gradually over time.

When the embargoes came, mass production stopped, but contrary to the expectations of the USA and Germany, the localization process continued. They were expecting the project to be canceled, because this was the most rational decision from a financial perspective.

However, we did not start these projects with a financial perspective. In order to survive, the production of our weapon systems and ammunition must be 100% under our control. The Ukraine War proved how right we were!!

The Turks have shown how they have moved on and focused on their own development. The hard build development is what gives Turkey the leverage that they now can bring to the table to the Arabs; look at the Saudi interest to buy 100 KAAN fighters.

It’s not inconceivable, once stable and moved onto rebuilding its military, that Syria may be a prime customer for Turkish arms, including main battle tanks.
