I am curious to know where did you get this number? Quick Google search shows 1500 flying hours for Tejas.

I think at least 500 of those hours were logged in Bollywood movies.........

Come on - first 3 prototypes itself completed 800 hours...way back in 2010. You think some 40 jets (incl prototypes and trainers) with 15 more years, did only 700 hours. Don't clutch at straws. MK has been in regular flight service for more than 5 years now.

The JF17 project is fantastic case study in risk management. The decision to decouple the avionics from the airframe looks like "common sense" today, but back then it was truly a pioneering decision as it was not how aircraft programmes were classically done, and what has ultimately led to the success of the project.

An inspired decision made by the late ACM Mushaf Ali Mir i believe from the time(correct me if my memory is wrong !).

it's 12,000 flight hours for the entire program. Just for contrast the F-35 reached a million flight hours in March 2025. So when people talk about the reliability of the F-35 and compare it to the Tejas they're seriously delulu...

What I don't understand is this: Between the April 22 Pahalgam attack and the May 7, 2025 Pakistan-India conflict, this forum was discussing the upcoming Indian response. There were already rumors about Turkish cargo planes landing in Pakistan, loaded with drones. There were already rumors about the Chinese PL-15 flown into Pakistan on emergency basis--the main question discussed was: What was the range of those PL-15 and even rookies like were discussing that topic. So how could the Indians miscalculated something which even the rookies in a defense forum were discussing before India had the debacle on May 7?!! What am I missing?!!

You’re not missing anything, it’s Indians that are missing brains. False Supa Powa bravado whipped up by compliant media, overconfidence in their overpriced toys and huge numerical advantage blinds them to genuine threats. Long may it continue.

In the above images the welding and coating seems to be actively chipped at multiple points, several plates are not sitting flush with the frame.

It is utterly shocking shocking poor build quality which is an even bigger sin when you consider how long HAL have been making jets.

The Tejas was a Mig21 replacement that seems to have been built to Mig-21 build quality and standard it seems!

No wonder Dassault refused to certify HALs work.

Indians pull the same trick with their perpetual "total GDP victory" by avoiding discussions on GDP per capita.

They don't understand what a denominator is, despite Arabs having tried really hard to teach them basic mathematics.
