Let me add one important points here. people usually don't talk here.
Blaming Modi, RSS, or the BJP for Gujarat's 2002 riots. It would be similar to a person stating the facts, but an IT cell of the opposition would cut the one sentence in half and attack it if contest sentence is not good for audience/local public instead of showing the full argument of the speakers.
I am a more practical person - I am from MP, settled in Bangalore. I am hindu but still a minority compared to the local people. Every day when i go out - i try to avoid any conflict with the local people and sometimes i need to keep my ego and attitude aside and listen to two words from them even mistake from their sides.
whatever our Indian fundamental rights say, everyone is equal but this practically does not apply everywhere. I also believe, it also does apply everywhere in the world: minorities have to be more Consciousness to deal with majorities. any clash will caused more damage to Minorities only.

On Topic -
Gujrat riots were not started by Hindus.
Just for reference :
On the morning of 27 February 2002, the
Sabarmati Express, returning from
Ayodhya to Ahmedabad, stopped near the
Godhra railway station. The passengers were
Hindu pilgrims, returning from Ayodhya. An argument erupted between the train passengers and the vendors on the railway platform.
[38] The argument became violent and, under uncertain circumstances, four coaches of the train caught fire with many people trapped inside.
In the resulting conflagration, 59 people, including women and children, burned to death
The question is that - who gives rights to kill 59 hindus and burn the train to a few muslims people?
These killing of 59 Hindus including kids were never criticized by any Pakistan politicians and people. were they not humans?
2nd phase - there were many false information spreaded....
example: Local newspapers also published false reports, alleging that Muslims had
abducted and sexually assaulted Hindu women.
It heightened the already tense situation, and then things went horribly wrong in a way that wasn't supposed to happen.
-----------------------------
Lets talk about Modi and BJP leaders role Yes, they were totally supported to hindu organizations and back them. They didn't dare to stop those people due to the vote politics.
Modi should have control the situation much better, but he was failed against the vote politics. I also believe that BJP leaders were given the free hands to hindu majority for 1st couple of days.
Even I always say that it was the fault of Modi, being the CM - he was failed to protect own citizens due to dirty vote politics.
---------------------------
But the Gujrat riots were the result of collaborative responsibility from the Muslim and Hindu communities, not just from one group. It wouldn't have begun if 59 people hadn't been slain, and it wouldn't have gone so badly either if the BJP leadership hadn't failed from fear of losing support from ardent Hindu organizations and been forced to play dirty vote politics.
It's.

challenges with Pakistani members - they know only one side of negative story of BJP and Modi as what being sold there. After 2002 Gujrat riots, there is no major incident happened under BJP government in last 21 years.
I am not a supporter of Modi or the BJP, but stating the facts. This year also, i didn't vote for them. I voted to a local politician (Not from BJP and congress)
