BABUR (PN MILGEM) Class Corvettes are the most technologically advanced surface platforms being constructed for the Pakistan Navy. The ships will be fitted with the latest Command & Control Systems, including modern weapons and sensors.

Per the speech of ex Navy Chief plan was for 6 heavier OPVs. So if plans have not changed, 4 more are to be contracted.

Hint also lies in india trying to persuade netherland not to sell to Pakistan. Why would they do it when all the previous contracted OPVs are now already delivered.

Thankfully there is currently as much anti-Indian immigrant sentiment running wild in Netherlands as anywhere else in western world and that might help Pakistan's case......plus who doesn't want to sell their weapons to the underdog victors?

Moreover, the Sea Sultan project, Pakistan's indigenous Long-Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft (LRMPA) program remains one of the Navy’s key priorities, reflecting its commitment to enhancing maritime surveillance and anti-submarine warfare capabilities.

Turkish CIWS to be used on Babar class corvettes

If we are talking about CIWS hitting Brahmos, that's a scary thought. Because it means all other distant options have failed to neutralize the Brahmos. And trust me, they will not be coming in as 1-2's, it will be a silo and a CIWS can't stop a silo. It's the AD umbrella that needs to do it.

I know we ordered the Milgem class during the worst economic conditions when we had no other options, but we need to spend more money and get externally configured VLS's on these. We are facing a navy that is 4 times larger than us in numbers and probably 5-6 times in VLS's. So we need attack weapons meaning VLS's installed.


Lastly, as our economy gets better, we really need to get out of the Corvette business as these can only be effective for 100-150 KM radius near ports area ideally. We need larger ships, including guided missile frigates and destroyers to counter the enemy.

True. Only 1 ship is ordered so far.

Chief of Naval staff Abbasi in his famous speech said that PN will build JCF (the 5th Ship) after 4 Milgem Baburs. So, total 5 ships under milgem program including baburs. Its the same speech in which he laid out 20 major warships plan for the PN.
9 current frigates + 1 Jinnah = 10 Frigates
4 Baburs + 4 Yarmooks = 8 Covettes
So we are 18 already. 2 more could likely be another batch of Damen OPV 2600.

I don't think there will be only 1 Jinnah class but how many is not known yet. This we will see in future...maybe after current programmes near completion and the focus is on jinnah class.

Most of their exercises are in the ME and SEA region they would have to go way out.

Also you need TF2000 class anti-air warfare guided-missile destroyer to look up to 600km for AD in the sea.....
