That is why I said it is PR. If there were such deals, they would have been in the public domain and if Turkmenistan were really investing 14 bn dollars in Gwadar, it would not be announced through a press release by the Balochistan government.

Balochistan cabinet just approved it, this project has long way to go. USA etc are actively working to expand LNG exports. Globally 5000 LNG cargos are sold. The $14bn terminal in Gwadar will at must sell 200 LNG cargos per year.

You think Turkmenistan will have trouble finding customers for 200 LNG cargos per year? Even bankrupt country like Pakistan import 100-120 cargos. I bet in 10 years Bangladesh alone will import 200 LNG cargos.

First thing they need is to restart TAP pipeline which is stuck at Herat because India is out and Pakistan will not buy all that extra gas. The only way out is exports of LNG.

If there is no stability, normal workers cannot work in Balochistan, let alone a pipeline.

You don't need Norway like stability for pipelines to work. When was last time pipeline was blown up in Balochistan? Right I don't remember it. Because its not that easy and not worth it because it can be repaired in 12-24 hours. In 2025 there was 1 attack.

Hardly a big deal for gas terminal which will have its own storage so 24 hours disruption will not matter.

You should run a business in a risky area. See how they would go.
A mere threat that IRN can blow up a tanker raises fuel prices. That uncertainty also hikes the insurance premium.

Modern business cannot work on an unreliable internet and power connection, and you are talking about a blow up pipeline.
Let's say that if there is no fuel supply for 24 hours, what will the plant do at Gawadar? Stay idle?

The question is not whether Turkmenistan can find buyers for LNG cargoes in Gwadar, but whether it is worthwhile for them when they have existing piplelines to China, Russia, Iran, Turkey and others and they have a huge potential customer in Europe which is trying to get off Russian gas.

The main attraction of TAPI was getting captive customers locked in for long term. Having to get the gas to Gwadar and finding customers for each tanker completely changes the economics, even without the security risks.

QUETTA: The Balochistan cabinet has approved the development of a $14 billion tri-state gas terminal in Gwadar, backed by investment from Turkmenistan, marking a major step toward strengthening Pakistan’s energy infrastructure and regional connectivity.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, who directed the Senior Member of the Board of Revenue to ensure that Balochistan’s legal, financial, and ownership rights are fully safeguarded throughout the project.

Speaking at a post-meeting press conference, Provincial Ministers Mir Zahoor Buledi and Mir Ziaullah Langove said the proposed gas terminal will not only serve as a strategic regional energy hub but will also provide natural gas to the districts of Gwadar, Panjgur, Chagai, and Washuk, improving energy access across southwestern Balochistan.

The cabinet meeting began with prayers for security personnel and civilians who lost their lives in recent terrorist attacks. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring peace, Minister Buledi said the provincial administration would continue decisive action against terrorist networks and would not allow militants to operate on Balochistan’s soil.

I don't think this news is true.

Balochistan's total budget is less than $3 billion.
