8 terrorists killed in intelligence-based operation in Kalat: ISPR

December 25, 2025

Eight terrorists were killed after security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan‘s Kalat district, the military’s media affairs wing said on Thursday.

In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces conducted an IBO in Kalat on Dec 24 (yesterday) on the reported presence of terrorists belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al Hindustan.

The state has designated Balochistan-based terrorist groups as Fitna-al-Hindustan to highlight India’s alleged role in terrorism and destabilisation across Pakistan.

It said that during the operation, security forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and, after an intense exchange of fire, eight Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed.

“Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area,” ISPR said.

It said that a sanitisation operation was being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorists found in the area, adding that the counterterrorism campaign by security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue at full pace to wipe out “foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country”.

Earlier this month, 12 terrorists were killed during an IBO in Kalat.

In March, Pakistan ranked second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with the number of deaths in terrorist attacks rising by 45 per cent as compared to the previous year.

In October, the Islamabad-based think tank Centre for Research and Security Studies said that violence had surged in the third quarter of 2025 due to a spike in militant attacks and intensified counter-terrorism operations.

A dedicated security coach has been added to the Jaffar Express heading to Quetta. Equipped with a mounted machine gun, surveillance cameras, and an onboard control system, this step aims to counter repeated attacks on the route.
Insha'Allah, train operations to Quetta will continue as normal.

Security forces killed four terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy Fitna al Hindustan during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kalat district, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was carried out on Saturday following reports about the presence of terrorists linked to Fitna al Hindustan in the area. “During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location. After an intense exchange of fire, four Indian-sponsored terrorists were neutralised,” the ISPR said in a statement.

The military said weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the killed terrorists, who were actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area. Sanitisation operations were continuing to ensure no other Indian-sponsored terrorists remained in the vicinity.

The ISPR said the counterterrorism campaign would continue at full pace under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, to eliminate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has formally merged the Levies Force into the provincial police, abolishing all 'B' areas and converting them into 'A' areas, a move officials say resolves longstanding administrative ambiguity and ensures uniform law-enforcement across the province.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti announced the decision on X, highlighting that the merger clarifies the state's responsibilities and strengthens the framework for public safety and protection throughout Balochistan.

The cabinet approved the step, with Sibi and Loralai divisions now declared 'A-Areas'. As per the decision, all Levies personnel, including provincial, ex-federal, and members of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Wing, have been integrated into the Balochistan Police.

The merged personnel would retain their ranks, pay scales, benefits, and existing nomenclature. Their administration will now fall under the Balochistan Police Act, 2011. The merger also involves the transfer of all infrastructure and resources of the former Levies Force to the police.

As part of a broader effort to enhance policing, the Balochistan Police have launched an accelerated training programme for former Levies personnel shifted from 'B-Area' duties to regular 'A-Area' policing. The initiative began on January 1, 2026, at the Police Training College (PTC) in Quetta.

Blast damages railway track in Nasirabad, Balochistan

No casualties, train services suspend temporarily as repair work continues

A railway track near the national highway in the Notal area of Nasirabad in Balochistan was targeted by unknown individuals with explosive material.

The explosion occurred when no train was passing through the area. Although the explosion partially damaged part of the track, no loss of life or property was reported, police sources said.

The sound of the blast was reportedly heard from a long distance. A heavy contingent of police and security forces immediately reached the site after the incident, sealing off the area and launching a search operation to trace the suspects.

Train movement was temporarily suspended due to a portion of the track being damaged. However, railway authorities immediately began repair work to mend the affected section.

Authorities stated that investigations into the incident are ongoing and the perpetrators will be brought to justice. Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has also taken notice of the incident and sought a report.

The incident highlights the seriousness of the security situation in Balochistan, where railway tracks are repeatedly targeted. The public has been urged to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station immediately.

The spike in targeting of railway infrastructure in the province, according to experts, is an attempt by miscreant elements to create instability in the province. Security agencies have issued instructions for the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to deter any further untoward incidents.

In November, security forces defused a bomb containing over 3.5 kilograms of explosive material near a railway track in Dera Murad Jamali area of Nasirabad, averting what police described as "a major disaster".
