You can not get into an agreement after the enemy attacks. BD needs to sign a defense agreement with PK to deter a common enemy.

It is the need of the hour

If 2,000 are on the cards, then domestic production will happen.

The key for BD is to ensure that their input isn't just limited to assembly or even manufacturing at the end of the chain.

Instead, get Bangladeshi companies involved in the upstream as well, i.e., input manufacturing, so that BD takes up at least 60% of the value chain. Do that, and the BD-built AFVs will be very cost-competitive and knowing the way Pakistan Army works these days, they'll buy some too.

That's just such a nonsense. Each costing around 4 millions, totaling 8 billions for 2000. BD simply won't have that kind of money to spend on AFVs in next 10 years.

Would local production or assembly, realistically lower the financial outlay you think?

4 millions per unit! 😮 Are you sure bhai? From Gemini:
.
The Otokar Arma's cost in the UAE isn't a simple sticker price but part of a massive $661 million deal for the locally-built "Rabdan" (Arma 8x8) vehicles, with production under a Tawazun Holding joint venture for up to 700 units, meaning the per-unit cost is embedded in the total contract for 8x8 amphibious versions for the UAE Army.
.
Any input?

Look up the potential Kazakh ARMA deal for 834 summing up to 4.4 billions. (With logistics and maintenance support includes)

The amount stated for Rabdan JV based on ARMA design was Otokar's share alone. However the vehicles were built at UAE Tawazun holding's factory. What they sended to manufacture the vehicle is not included in the deal with Otokar. Plus the turrets were already there. Which usually costs 33% of the vehicle. (Could be more)

These stuff costs a lot these days. For example, Aselsan's Korhan turret (offered with ARMA and other Turkish 8x8) equipped with latest stuff and airburst ammunition cost around 1.5 millions alone.

@Afif what's your takes on defence pact with Pakistan?

Many HL military trips took place since Aug 5th but no real progress on any sort of agreement?

Looks like Bangladesh wants to phase out Russian weapons.

BTR-80 is out of the way. Wonder why they took so long to replace it.

Sometimes the decision is not financial, but politically motivated.
I am looking forward to having SRBM from either Turkey,China or Pakistan.

It will scare the shit out of India.

No defence pact is happening. All these visits are part of reengagement and reapproachment after one and a half decade of disengagement. The scope of the collaboration would remain limited in training, procurement and potential ToT.
