Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inspects the summer training exercise of the army in the vast jungle of Barisal

Dhaka, July 13, 2026: Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Tarique Rahman inspected the summer training exercise of the Bangladesh Army in Babuganj, Barisal.

Today, Monday (July 13, 2026), at 11:30 am, the Prime Minister reached the summer training exercise site of the Bangladesh Army in the East Rahmatpur area of Babuganj Upazila of Barisal. Later, she walked around the vast jungle and inspected various training activities and wartime preparations of the army members.

During the exercise, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman observed the positioning, movement and various activities suitable for real war situations of the army members inside the remote and dense jungle. At this time, the responsible army officers informed him about various aspects of the exercise and the tactical preparation of the army members.

During this time, the Prime Minister witnessed the activities of the anti-drone multi-barrel system used to detect and prevent enemy drones. The concerned army officers gave him an idea about the functioning of this defense system and its use in the battlefield.

During the visit, the Prime Minister sincerely mingled with the army personnel. He went to the army personnel on duty inside the jungle and inquired about them and encouraged them to perform their duties with dedication and professionalism. At one stage, he spent some time sitting on the ground with the army personnel and listened to their training, responsibilities and field experience.

The Prime Minister also ate food prepared on the spot in a battlefield environment for the army personnel participating in the exercise. He was served white rice, lentils, potato stuffing, shrimp fish and egg curry cooked on a fire made by burning wax in a pot.

Later, in his directional speech to the army personnel, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that the people have deep trust in the Bangladesh Army, which is a symbol of the country's independence and sovereignty. The army has repeatedly set shining examples of professionalism, bravery and patriotism in dealing with national crises, ensuring the security of the country and maintaining law and order.

She said that the discipline, efficiency, self-sacrifice and devotion of the army members have created a special status for the army in the minds of the people of the country. To maintain this trust and status, the Prime Minister emphasized on professional training, use of modern technology and maintaining maximum readiness.

The Prime Minister said that she herself grew up in a military family. Therefore, when she comes to the army members, she feels good and her childhood memories come back. By talking to the army members and spending time in their presence, she should go back to her childhood.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the Bangladesh Army will achieve more fame, dignity and professional recognition beyond the borders of the country and around the world in the coming days. She said that the government will provide all necessary support to enhance the capacity, modernization and reputation of the army.

Present at the event were Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, Prime Minister's Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, Prime Minister's Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq and senior officials of the Bangladesh Army.
