Bangladesh Army

Bangladesh Army consistently struggles to adopt new technologies and concepts, and as a result tends to take the 'easy' way out.
Bingo.

I believe the leadership being 'oldies' has something to do with that.
However, could we not have taken this opportunity to select and commence roll out of a next generation standard issue rifle system, instead of taking the lazy way out yet again?
Sure they could. I believe this would be the third we went to market for "খুচরা" "টুকটাক" purchase .

It could have easily turned this into an opportunity to test out new platforms & choosing one for "domestication".
How broke are they to keep using ancient type-56s.

I thought they tested CZ 805? And anyways it time that we build our own defence industry.
Very broke.

Since, buying old, cheap, substandard & pocketing the change is the common trait.

The leadership being '80s kid only makes it worse

What’s the purpose of Bangladesh Military? With these purchases, they are neither in good shape to invade or defend.

We have a clown force. World first clown military. Can’t annex neither defend.

RWS cannot distinguish between UPDF and PCJSS insurgents. Type-88 manned by a Gopali gunner would integrate seamlessly with the Awami Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) system.

On a serious note:
while I can see that a human gunner could potentially have better peripheral vision and situational awareness in close combat, I am not quite confident that tipped the scale for this procurement decision.

I was about to post the below seperately but now this seems relevant to the above:

BA has just released a tender to procure 1020 units of Type 56-1 Assault Rifle!!View attachment 169403
Now, I do realise this is a miniscule quantity of rifles being bought relative to the size of the fighting force.
I also acknowledge that army rifles need constant replacement to keep up with operational demands, and it is convenient to process more of the usual.
However, could we not have taken this opportunity to select and commence roll out of a next generation standard issue rifle system, instead of taking the lazy way out yet again?
About the type 56...

Some ghora was able to retrofit picatinny rails on these in bd and hence why this order made sense to any of the fat fucks above. Probably will pocket the difference.
