Bangladesh Economy

As long as it benefits the consumers by lowering cost and better service, I have no concerns.

Depends on how much bribe our babus want to squeeze out of these investors on the side.

Curious to know. What does a basic package (unlimited domestic talktime + 1 GB per day data) cost like in BD?

Regards

I am not sure you have unlimited talk time packages in Bangladesh anymore. Its mostly minutes + GB bundles.

Here's an example -

@LeonBlack08

Thanks. BD telcos do seem to be overcharging. A 28-day package with unlimited talk time and 1.5 GB data/day costs about Rs 300 in India.

@LeonBlack08

Well, India is actually even worse. Effectively we have 3 entities- Reliance Jio and Airtel and two lame ducks- Vodafone and BSNL- you can assume them to be 0.5 each.

How about the regulators? Are they forcing the telcos to keep rates lower to be fair to the customers?

@LeonBlack08

Strictly speaking, no. Regulators, mercifully haven't yet decided that they are supposed to be price setters. IND is a low-income country, and the telcos know that they can't push rates without destroying the market.
