Bangladesh is prospering at BD speed. It cannot progress at Indian or Chinese pace. The institutional dependence of Bangladesh on India is not a laughing matter, it is a fact. India literally micro manages BD after having built their institutions post 'liberation'.

The cultural ties between India and Bangladesh supercede any promise of growth and development.

Not big on betting but we can place a bet that BD won't join this and will return to lactating teets of her Indian mother sooner rather than later.

Framing a collective defence agreement as a catastrophe simply reveals sour grapes of external actors who realize their monopoly on power in the region has begun to decay.

The alliance may well be tested by both Israel and India very soon, maybe together, and we shall see if it has legs or not.

The key part will be what/if-anything does Saudi do. I have no doubts in my mind about Pakistan-Türkiye supporting each other actively and visibility and militarily. We have seen Pakistan put soldiers and aircraft on the line for the Saudi-Pakistan pact as well, but if Saudi does not get involved actively and visibility and militarily in supporting Pakistan or Türkiye when required, then the pact is dead.

My opinion on this matter is that we need precisely this doubt. The attacker shouldn't be certain. For example, let's say a country wants to attack Pakistan or Türkiye. Thanks to this agreement, they will think twice, wondering what will happen. If they come to help, the situation will drag on for a long time, and their reputation will be damaged.

Wars are no longer fought for territory, but for economic interests and domestic politics. America got involved with Iran because of Israel, couldn't defeat them, couldn't force them to surrender, lost reputation, and suffered huge economic losses. In fact, they should have given up and fled, they regretted it, but the Zionist lobby and domestic politics are forcing them to pretend to continue.
Anyway, let's not digress; even two speeches of support at the moment of the attack would be a great morale boost. In addition, providing financial and ammunition aid wouldn't significantly impact the war, but it would be a huge morale boost. Otherwise, how could a devastated Ukraine have endured for four years?

Agree - and there is no value in publishing the terms of the pact either, as countries will try and find "holes" in the pact that they will try and exploit, as per Israel's recent assertion that Turkish forces in Cyprus or Syria are not covered under the NATO pact. Let them guessing.

lol - there is no way that Iran is joining the Mother-father alliance, or any alliance with India after India's antics in Tel Aviv days before Israel attacked Iran. As for Afghanistan, good luck with that.

I don't think Turkiye looks at it this way. I dont think any Turkish military planner honestly looks at saudi today and thinks its going to be any use in a war. No disrespect to the Saudi people.

I think the pact is really about planting seeds. Its a start to something greater. Maybe in 10 years time saudi will be able to function like a real military ally, but to expect that from them today or in the next couple of years is wrong.

Its going to take time and as Muslims we got to start thinking about 10, 20 years, 50 year timeframes. Otherwise were going to keep losing against those powers who do think along these lines.

So we are here today, where do we want to be in 10 years time, 20 years time. Once we realise where we want to be, we then need to start actively planning and working today towards it.

If India attacks Pakistan tomorrow and the Saudis don't do anything, that's fine. Lets not expect such a nation to behave like Turkiye or Pakistan overnight. Now if after 10 years of work and Saudis still behave the same way, then that's a different story. But its going to take time and work.

A big reason the Turkish defence industry is succeeding today is because it didn't think about day 1, it thought about 50 years later. If we got hooked on all the early failures, all the early set backs, we wouldn't be talking about a 5th gen fighter today. Anything of value requires work.

Assuming you have a 20 / 2 0 hindsight.... since the creation of Pakistan Bengal/ Bangladesh has been a psychological , strategic and economic burden on Pakistan ... other than religion we have nothing in common with Bangladesh , glad it became a separate country though I wish it would have separated in a dignified and amicable way.... bringing it to the Makkah alliance means taking all those burdens on your back again... Bangladesh offers nothing in return ... Saudi Arabia is also a burden to a lesser extent , in Saudi case there's some hope of investments , if not this alliance is nothing more than a ego trip for Pakistan.

The question everyone is asking right now, is if the treaty is real or not, or is it pure political theatre. If one of the founding members e.g. cannot even send 1 x squadron of fighter jets( the lowest and simplest ask! ) to Pakistan to defend Pakistan, then the pact will carry no political or military weight at any scale and will be dismissed as having no deterrence value. The purpose of the pact is to create deterrence value and for that deterrence to be real, countries have to respond proactively. Look how Egypt sent planes to UAE to help defend their airspace, can we not even expect something as simple as that from Saudi ?

If the intention was to have a structure in 10years from now, then would it not have been suitable until this pact was delayed until then, when the ground work has been done an it becomes real ?

You do know what a "defence pact" is, right?

If India attacks Pakistan, then Pakistan will invoke the terms of its "defence pact". You think Iran will then be summonable by Delhi for Pakistan defending itself??

1 - Iran WILL join the Makkah pact. It is a matter of time and some heavy diplomacy.
2 - Iran has no issues with Pakistan that requires it to be in an alliance with India. Not now, not ever. You have obviously not paid any attention to any thing from Iran with regards to Pakistan's help for Iran in this war, including dismissing outright any attempt of sanctions by Pakistan on Iran...
