Bangladesh-Pakistan

Why do you hate Iqbal?
What did he do?
Well...maybe hate is a strong word. Just dont like him. Jinnah for a muslim state, that was supposed to be decentralized. I dont really like urdu or farsi, my name says ethnonationalist after all. Jinnah took the first step that would have eventually lead to all of south asia balkanizing into autonomous ethnic states.
Allama's ideas were used to ensure Pakistan turned into another India, but nominally muslim.

After all, Jinnah tried to get Bengal and Hyderabad in. Allama barely knew we existed.

Also, somewhat related, I think India, especially India under INC, was the true successor to the Mughal empire. I dont like the mughals much either.

Guys, I heard there was a declassified ISI report that they suspect Indira Gandhi was behind the assassination of Ziaur Rahman, president of Bangladesh. Any else know anything more about it?

FO says ex-PM Hasina’s death sentence ‘internal matter’, Bangladesh ‘fully capable’ of addressing own issues

News Desk
November 21, 2025

Pakistan on Friday said that the recent death sentence for former Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina was an “internal matter” for the country and that its people were fully capable of solving their own issues.

A Bangladesh court had sentenced Hasina to death on Monday, concluding a months-long trial that found her guilty of ordering a deadly crackdown on a student-led uprising last year.

The ruling came months ahead of parliamentary elections expected to be held in early February.

Addressing his weekly press briefing today, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said several queries were received regarding the development, on which he said: “This is an internal matter of Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh are fully capable of addressing their issues in accordance with their own democratic and constitutional processes.”

That's simply his opinion, and as you assessed correctly, he is no defence expert.

I don't think BAF will go for JF 17, based on their past requirements for MRCA. Although it can change now, we will have to wait and see.
we re more likely to buy j-10s

He resides in Bd and married to Bd girl.

I think Pakistani name brands should setup their store in Bd. They will do very well.

Pakistan state agency issues tender to buy 100,000 metric tons rice for supply to Bangladesh, traders say

HAMBURG: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), Pakistan’s state agency, has issued a tender to purchase 100,000 metric tons of rice for supply to Bangladesh, European traders said on Monday.

The deadline for submission of price offers is November 28. Bangladesh also announced another rice tender on Monday, continuing a series of import tenders in the last few weeks to cool local prices.

The tender seeks long grain white rice.

Price offers have to be valid for 21 working days after submission.

The rice must be available for shipment within 45 days calendar days after the contract award.

Traders regarded the tender as a possible move to bring Pakistani rice into Bangladesh’s import supplies, with market expectations that Indian-origin rice will be used to supply some recent purchases by Bangladesh.

It would be a big jump for Bangladesh.

Pakistan had been studying the J-10 since around 2011. PAF was exercising against it, probably training on it, and then suddenly purchased it in mid 2021.

A few months later it was inducted into the air force and 3 years later, it was proven combat ready.

In my personal opinion, one of the major factors for the success of J-10s in Pakistani hands is due to PAF gaining a lot of experience from using JF-17 Thunder since 2007 that has similar systems, as well as annual Shaheen Exercises with PLAAF. All of which has helped Pakistan learn Chinese technology like it has learnt the American and French technologies through F-16s and Mirages.

Pakistan seeks to buy 100,000 tonnes of rice for supply to Bangladesh

The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has issued a tender to purchase 100,000 tonnes of rice for supply to Bangladesh, it emerged on Monday.

After decades of troubled relations, Islamabad and Dhaka have seen improved ties and increased bilateral engagement since the August 2024 ouster of ex-premier Sheikh Hasina.

The deadline for submission of price offers is 11:30am on November 28, according to the TCP tender issued on November 20, which was seen by Dawn.

The tender invites “separate sealed bids” from companies, partnerships and sole proprietors for buying 100,000 tonnes of long grain white rice (IRRI-6) “for export to Bangladesh in the shape of break bulk cargo” through Karachi ports.

Price offers have to be valid for 21 working days after submission. The rice must be available for shipment within 45 days after the contract award.

The bids shall be submitted for a minimum quantity of 25,000 tonnes, or multiples thereof, and a maximum quantity of 100,000 tonnes, +/- 5 per cent MOLSO (5pc variance margin).

As per the tender, the rice should be supplied from the “stocks of latest crop of Pakistan origin”, and must be fit for human consumption without any unpleasant odour, sign of mould, poisonous weed seeds, insects, and infestation.

According to Reuters, traders regarded the tender as a possible move to bring Pakistani rice into Bangladesh’s import supplies, with market expectations that Indian-origin rice will be used to supply some recent purchases by Bangladesh.

Bangladesh also announced another rice tender today, continuing a series of import tenders in the last few weeks to cool local prices.

Pakistan and Bangladesh started direct government-to-government trade in February with imports of 50,000 tonnes of rice.

At the 9th Joint Economic Commission (JEC) last month, Pakistan offered the use of Karachi Port Trust as a gateway for Dhaka’s trade with regional countries, including China and the Central Asian states.

Pak-Bangladesh flights to start in December

Envoy says visas being issued to businessmen in just three days

Our Correspondent
November 26, 2025

LAHORE: Bangladesh High Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Khan has announced that Mahan Air is likely to start three weekly flights between Karachi and Dhaka from next month, which will be a major step towards promoting trade and result in a significant leap in strengthening connectivity.

Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), the high commissioner said that visa process had been simplified as visas were being issued on the joint recommendation of LCCI and the Bangladesh Honorary Consulate in Lahore. "Visas will be issued to members within three to four days, making travel between the two countries faster and easier," he said.

Highlighting trade opportunities, the envoy proposed that Pakistan could export rice to Bangladesh, while Bangladesh could supply fresh pineapples. He also pointed to the significant trade potential for textiles and readymade garments.

He mentioned that a direct cargo shipping service would soon be launched. While a cargo service between the two countries has been operational since last December, rising trade demand now requires a dedicated direct cargo route.

In the education sector, the high commissioner encouraged both countries to collaborate. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan will soon send a delegation to Bangladesh, comprising representatives from 12 universities, with the aim of attracting more Bangladeshi students to study in Pakistan.

He also highlighted Pakistan's tourism sector as an area with considerable potential and outlined the shared culture, history and values of the two nations, describing them as closely connected and united as one community.

Speaking at the meeting, LCCI President Faheemur Rehman Saigol shed light on the historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, saying that the two countries share a common heritage.

He emphasised that Pakistan could increase rice exports to Bangladesh and seek its guidance in the garments sector. He noted that both nations had opportunities to collaborate in IT, automobile and other industries.

Currently, bilateral trade stands at approximately $700 million, but there is potential to increase it to $3 billion over the next few years. Saigol added that direct flights would further enhance trade relations and LCCI would provide full support to the Bangladesh High Commission in that regard.

The chamber president responded positively when the high commissioner invited him to lead a delegation to Bangladesh and stated that a delegation would visit Dhaka soon.
