Bangladesh plans $2.2b purchase of 20 Chinese J-10 fighter jets

Yeah, buying AWACS is such a great idea for BAF! BD's airspace is only 200km+ wide at the shallowest point. Those slow flying giants is simply going to be target practice for enemy defensive counterair. What Bangladesh needs to do is to rely on its mobile long range ground based radars for ground-controlled interception (GCI). There is no strategic depth to fly AWACS.

And tankers? Lol.

1, You only attack AWACs when they are grounded .

2, How can you intercept an all seeing eye without it letting you do so or you being shot by its escorts.

3, AWACS sees you first before you can attack it so they either flee from you or send interceptors at you… AWACs never get close enough territory to even be seen.

3, Without aerial tankers . How the F .. are you going to reach and assist the Mecca Pact ? With jets or cargo planes?

4, I think I’m done here. Like one posters jokingly reply to me was.
Bangladeshis have peace keepers. Yes that’s what Mecca military pact is in desperate need off to confront Israeli f35s f15s and their Airborne early warning aircraft.

I don’t really think matters if Bangladesh joins or not. You don’t really have a military to speak of so joining would have probably close to zero impact.

Wasted enough of my time on this useless thread.

This isn't the thread about Mecca pact.

Until Bangladesh joins the pact and there is a requirement for Bangladesh to procure air refuelers and awacs to support the alliance, there is no need for Bangladesh to get one given the geography of Bangladesh. That's what he was referring to.

You are all over the place with your argument in this thread and also the other. It is clear that your bias against Bangladesh is clouding your judgement.

Why 20 exactly? Why the weird number? Is that a squadron, 2 squadrons, 1.5 , 1.25 or 1.1 squadron? WTF?

Doesn't Bangladesh's trade deal with the US signed by the Yunus government include a provision that Bangladesh will buy more defence equipment from the US and stop buying from China ?

Don't know about that. never heard of it. BD buying Boeing airliners though, Trump is also very happy about it, he sent a personally signed letter to the PM thanking him.

According to this article , it is is Section 6, Annex III

"Bangladesh will have to increase the purchase of military equipment from the US while reducing purchases from other countries (Section 6, Annex III)."

16 jets in operation. 4 Additional units to fasten the OCU Training, since being an completely different aircraft platform, demand for OCU will be higher.
Not sure, BAF may have 12 or 16 for a squadron, I may have heard sometime.
16 in peacetime, 18 at high alert levels.

I squad is of 18 jets. 2 might be trainers and backups at the same time.

There is no fixed rule for how many jets to be in a squadron. It could be anything from 10 to 12 to 16 to 18 to 24.

All 20 jets will be combat capable.

They make two squadron of 10 aircrafts each.

1 to replace an older squadron.

Another one will be brand new squadron.

Typically BAF squadrons consist of 16 jets. F-7s and Yak-130. JL-8 these were all 16 aircraft squadron. Though some of them has crashed reducing the number.

10 aircraft’s per squadron will not be little bit light?

But they will still keep dedicated OCU right? This was the trend with F-7'S afaik. Though I know too little.

Are the 20 J-10CE aircraft replacing the 36 J-7s? Will the Bangladesh Air Force's size by one squadron?

We placed an order for 14 boeing and leasing more to keep them off our back regarding military equipment it seems. Trump is happy as long as we buy something American.

J7s will be decommissioned in phases. Some older variants from 90s followed by the BGI variant from early 00s.
