Bangladesh Socio-Political Crisis 2024 and onwards

Mahfuj Alam, the special aide to Dr. Yunus made a ‘controversial’ Facebook post equating the 2024 uprising with the 15th August 75 military coup claiming both were intended to restrain Indian influence and encroachment on Bangladesh. If that is the case then why is the Interim Government not indemnifying the 15th August army officers and assisting the surviving ones to return to Bangladesh with full honor.

I had already explained these issues 15 years ago in my book The India Doctrine which has now been adopted by the Interim Government without extending any credit or recognition .…

What are you trying to say? It not like before your book people didn't had those opinions and ideas about 1975 incident.

Indian special forces or commandos were also involved in the 2009 Peelkhana massacre and that is why the Bangladesh Army, Awami League and the current interim government do not want a proper and thorough investigation.

Oddly simplified accusation.

What do you guys think of this accusation?

The division and infighting within tablig adds up. The convenient timing of this flare up is anything but BAL conspiracy. Didn't know Ananta Jalil is also involved in these stuff. And I thought he was just a harmless moron.

Yes people mentioned it before my book but these people were Col. Faruk and Col. Rashid but there perspective never reached mainstream political opinion and the event of 15th August was disowned by all the political parties and by most intellectuals. My book just made it open to a wider audience. My book as been plagiarized mercilessly ever since and I have every reason to resent that.

AF Hassan Ariff, the civil aviation and tourism advisor to the interim government, has died in hospital care at the age of 83.

The former attorney general was declared dead after being taken to Dhaka's Labaid Hospital on Friday, his son Moaz Ariff confirmed.

“The family brought Advisor Hassan Ariff to the hospital around 3pm. They said he had collapsed while eating. After conducting tests, we declared him dead at 3:35pm. However, he was already unresponsive when he arrived. He had suffered a cardiac arrest,” the hospital's Public Relations Officer Chowdhury Meher-e-Khoda said.

The senior Supreme Court lawyer was born in Kolkata in 1941. He completed his secondary and higher secondary education at Kolkata's St Xavier’s College. He then graduated with a bachelor’s degree and an LLB from the University of Calcutta.

In 1967, after enrolling as a lawyer at the Calcutta High Court, he moved to East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). In 1970, he became a registered lawyer at the Dhaka High Court.

Ariff held several key legal positions throughout his career. Under military strongman HM Ershad, he served as assistant attorney general from April 1982 to August 1985 and as deputy attorney general from August 1985 to March 1996. He later served as attorney general during the BNP-Jamaat-e-Islami coalition government, from October 2001 to April 2005.

From January 2008 to January 2009, he acted as law advisor to the caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed. He was also a panel member of the Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre.

The former attorney general represented Muhammad Yunus in several cases.

He was a senior Supreme Court lawyer and the head of the “AF Hassan Ariff and Associates” chamber.

A funeral prayer for Ariff will be held after the Isha prayers at Baitul Aman Mosque in Dhanmondi 7, said Civil Aviation and Tourism ministry spokesperson Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin.

Another funeral prayer is scheduled at the High Court premises on Saturday at 11am.

He added that the details regarding the burial will be announced later.

Clearly, he was not in good health. As a matter of fact, the majority of the advisors are very old and in poor health.

Is there a shortage of qualified young, energetic, and patriotic individuals in Bangladesh that we had to recruit these retired senior citizens?

BNP can't wait to start looting like BAL. Their thugs have already started their extortion business almost in every sector.

Without reform holding election will mean going back to the old regime.

It looks like BNP have learned nothing from the past 15 years. How stupid are these political parties.

These are the types of people in the Interim Government. Hasan Ariff was also one such person and there are several others of similar character ...
