Bangladesh Socio-Political Crisis 2024

Not gonnai happen. Bangladesh is too liberal for such laws
Iran was even more liberal, but when the U.S.-backed Islamic regime came to power, their first actions was to lower the marriageable age for women from 21 to 9.

Jamatis have started revealing their true intentions now imposing Pakistani attire on Bangladeshi women.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Jamatis started pushing to lower the minimum marriage age for women to 9, similar to what’s happening in Iraq, where a draft proposal has been filed to reduce the minimum age of marriage for women from 18 to 9.

Hindutva delusion

Indira Gandhi, general Jacob was secular.
I’m not entirely sure, but I hear Jamat-e-Islami sided with Pakistan and USA in 1971 and never wanted an independent Bangladesh. They even collaborated with Pakistan and USA in the genocide of Bangladeshis.

At their best performance, they couldn't even win 1/10 of the seats. This time I expect them to win perhaps 1/10 of the seats. Yet Jamaat is still the Bogeyman for insincere people to do deliberate fearmongering about BD.

If we consider Jamaat on the far right similar to BJP in neighboring country, one should compare the attitude, statements and policy proposals by both parties's leadership over the years toward minorities in their respective countries and see how it differ.

Be wary that far right ideals have a greater propensity to proliferate these days than other ones simply because they play the victim emotion that resonates more with those otherwise frustrated with the system and lack of performance.

Don't forget the preaching to the Choir, and above you low class and common folk (the intellectuals say this a lot), rules for thee but not me attitudes and behavior, labeling and boxing, of so called seculars of Left. They just feel they are a cut above, and it comes from years of being in power. Its common in every country, and they have become part of power structures.

People see through it, doesn't matter how long it takes. They may not be able to speak in flowery language, but they will quietly support change. What comes after can decide fate of a nation.

Probably have to find a way to automate as much as possible to curtail corruption. Then again there is the “system down “ issue !!!
Wages and salaries, first, such that losing those far outweighs the gains from corruption.
Strict and zero-tolerance monitoring, methods to be defined to prevent micro-management.
Most important, though mentioned last, public education. Stop parents, relatives, friends of the family, people in the village, people in the city, people on social media, from allowing short-cuts and speed money to be morally permissible.

Take your eyes off Muslim Bangladeshi women.

Save your concern for your hindu babygirls who gets murdered by hindu parents in India every year, because they regard female offspring as a curse.

UPDATE

The architect of secret prison system Aynaghar for Hasina's opposition and mass surveillance of citizens through NTMC Maj Gen Ziaul Ahasan has been arrested for murder. He was earlier prevented from fleeing Bangladesh under dramatic circumstances where the Air Force recalled the Emirates flight already on the runway.

This guy was Hasina's butcher, and often bragged about 100+ extrajudicial murders he himself committed when he was with RAB, per army insiders.

Disappeared Bangladeshi lawyer recounts Hasina's secret prison - AFP

Blindfolded, handcuffed and bundled out of his secret prison for the first time in eight years, Bangladeshi barrister Ahmad Bin Quasem held his breath and listened for the sound of a cocked pistol. Instead he was tossed from a car and into a muddy ditch on Dhaka's outskirts -- alive, at liberty and with no knowledge of the national upheaval that had prompted his abrupt release.

Imprisoned with no charge for 8 years - his only fault - he was a son of a Jamaat leader.

Student protesters plan new party to cement their revolution

Student demonstrators who ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have rejected calls from Bangladesh's two main political parties for quick elections and are considering creating their own party to cement in place reforms, according to interviews with four protest leaders.

Their hope: to avoid a repeat of the last 15 years, in which Hasina ruled the country of some 170 million with an iron fist.
