Tucked away in the far north of Pakistan’s Kaghan Valley, surrounded by peaks that rise to 3,224 meters, lies a blue cradle in the palms of snow-covered mountains–Lake Saiful Muluk.

Fed by the meltwater of the Hindu Kush, this highland jewel is a mirror that shifts through countless shades of blue as the light moves across the sky. In late spring and early summer, fresh green carpets cover the meadows, while dark pines stand like sentinels at the mountain’s foot.

On quiet nights, the lake becomes a still mirror, reflecting the year-round snows, the brilliant stars, and the full moon, so perfect that it’s hard to tell what is real and what is a reflection.
