Bengaluru To Manufacture India's First High-Speed Train, Designed For 280 Kmph For The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Corridor

Only fools count on recovering the cost with passenger tickets sales. China eyes regional connectivity and logistic supply chains, study shows cities with HSR connectivity have their GDP growth pushed by several percent. Miracles just unfolded right before our eyes that with the HSR extension, in just one decade, almost all Chinese cities, big or small, have obtained roughly the same development level.

LOL, You truly believe Chinese HSR is not used? they are the arteries for unbeatable China speed supply chain, you still move your supply logistics with your bullcarts, do you?

Most chinese hsr is loss making. The sustainable ones font have enough business to bring the systrm to black

Common sense: Except for freight routes, all passenger railways in the world are operating at a loss! The essence of railways is social investment, which is a subsidy to promote economic development.

A country's passenger rail system is like a country's schools and hospitals; it should be a social welfare sector, not a profit-making sector.

If a country's railways are profitable, that is truly dereliction of duty!

As if Chinese HSR network is something to be ashamed of, many countries can only dream of having a similar one, lol.

Just 1 question, WHYY??

It never hurts to have more options. Green Hydrogen is one of the cleanest energy source.
I mean we have already electrified most of our railway network, and what's left is of so little impact that it doesn't warrant spending money on a whole new and different tech stack,
what possible use could this have

That's true. But this may help in further development of hydrogen technology.

It is made for mountain and hilly area where over head wire is not economical or too risky. It's not an experiment or stop gap. It will permanently take over hilly routes.

Few countries choose hydrogen powered trains. Because hydrogen electric vehicles not only require extremely high investment, but also have very high operating costs.

The fuel cell system, hydrogen storage tanks, and high-pressure hydrogen refueling stations required for hydrogen trains are all high premium assets that require extremely high investment. Moreover, the energy efficiency of hydrogen energy is only about 30%, while the energy efficiency of direct charging of battery trains can reach 80%. Europe has estimated that the operating cost per kilometer for hydrogen trains is about 0.45-0.60 euros, for diesel trains it is about 0.30 euros, and for electric trains it is 0.22 euros.

There is also the cost of patent authorization. I suggest that the anti-corruption agency of the Indian government check whether the officials who approved the project have accepted bribes from Japanese companies. Because any hydrogen powered train will eventually become a cow for Japanese companies due to various patent authorizations.
