NGAD is officially called F-47. The US have developed and tested its components and prototypes in total secrecy. I disclosed this reality in following thread.

See above…the USAF Chief states there were multiple F-47 prototypes and have flown “hundreds of hours.”

OR - the USAF Chief(and American president) could be plain lying because they are embarrased that China beat them to the punch on being first with a 6th Gen platform and the Americans are indulging in false propaganda to try and create false facts ?!?!

The Chinese have been very open with their 6th Gen platform. All we have of the American programme is some low resolution renders .....

Where is the proof that NGAD has flown ? There is no proof - potentially only a "smoke and mirror" show hidden behind a wall of lies?

So it’s interesting then that Canards choice means the focus is on managing frontal RCS - likely no TVC. This is a longbow slinging BVRs vs the F-22s likely greater agility.

I also suspect (much like YF-23 vs F-22) that even IF Lockmart had a “better” design in certain aspects - its F-35 record and existing F-22 win might mean a bone was thrown to Boeing much like Lockheed got F-22 because Northrop had B-2.

Fanboys are fanboys but canards DO add additional surfaces to manage RCS on. It is possible these are LERX much like Su-57.

I am saying I dont belive the american narrative on being first. I dont think the Americans have anything. What reinforces that to me, is how open the Chinese have been about 2 x 6th gen platforms. You have to ask why are they being so transparent. It is because they know the Americans dont have anything.

NG is going to get the F-XX. Gotta keep all the primes happy, which TBH makes sense from a Pentagon/commercial perspective as well.

But oh boy is Boeing gonna be under a whole lot of pressure.

We basically have a gold “dead zone” in the Southwest that lets such ideas get tested without too many eyes peering in.

China does not have such an area due to the distribution of population centers vs testing areas.

There are permanent defense contractor presence at groom lake - they can assemble jets right there and then after having them flown CKD from let’s say Phantom works or otherwise.
