Breaking: First F-47 Sixth-Gen Fighter Already Being Built, Expected to Fly in 2028

china hasn't still figured out how to make a fighter without a HUD.
and? I think it is just a choice to maintain it.
It may be a US error to remove it, for a heavy helmet that break the neck of its pilot.... as when USAF decided te remove gun from its fighter, relying on unreliable missiles...

No. If they had the tech they would show it. They haven't figured out how to sensor fuse data, SA and EODAS to the helmet. F-35 in current blok3F+ has more advanced tech when it comes to ISR, EW, Cyber warfare and network connectivity. J-20 and J-35 are just basic fighters with stealth ability their tech is no different from their 4th gen fighters like J-16 or other latest 4th gen fighters.

Never under estimate your opponent..... (a US specialty).

Sindoor proved that the chinese junks are not so bad.

It is not because F-35 is without HUD that it is a good solution. It is a solution, until recently with problems, and not a single F-35 see a hard fight, against a well equiped and trained opponent (ie not the ruined Syria, not the without air force Iran, not Yemen).

You’d think that, since they equipped their fighters with peripheral awareness systems like EODAS they probably have some sort of interface to make use of it eh?

Chinese state media have showcased a HMDS/JHMCS analogue in service with J-20s since 2018 and they have never been shy to showcase it since https://military.cctv.com/m/a/index.shtmlid=ARTIuFhE2iJ0e8MoK0CbzD41180615
…not like having HUDs is mutually exclusive with the ability to use of Augmented Reality helmet display systems somehow in the first place, here’s a F-16 pilot with JHMCS for example.

Having HUDs could be for the sake of redundancy, one simple scenario I could think of is that it meant that in certain training subjects your pilot doesn’t have to have almost 5 extra pounds above their necks and then expected to pull a good amount of G-loads with it. Given that PLAAF pilots now have on average significantly more flight hours annually than their US counterparts, that alone would be a great boon for their wellbeing, so they won’t have to be told by the VA hospital that their neck injuries is not related to their service.

If this program is anything like Have Blue, it is already flying and will be operational if not already before it is unveiled publicly.

Boeings NGAD prototype has been flying since 2019. Think of that as the YF-22. It flew more hours than either YF-22 or 23 prototypes.

The first F-47 will be production representative. It will undergo a few years of testing to validate expected performance, similar to B-21 today.

F-47 will be more advanced than anything China puts in the air.

That flying in 2019 was just a "technology demonstrator", not "prototype" yet.
The one planned to fly in 2028 will be the prototype.

No, the first F-47 is now in production. The prototyping stage is done. F-47 will undergo a testing period similar to B-21, but F-47 will be production representative.

Going to disagree. The F-117 was operational well before it was known publicly. We could be seeing the same thing here.
