In my view, the most practical long-term solution to the jammu and Kashmir including pak parts dispute would be for both India and Pakistan to accept the existing Line of Control as the permanent boundary. However, because of domestic political considerations on both sides, reaching such an agreement would be extremely difficult and impossible

Pakistan has already tried this game and paid a very high price for it. Now, if another attack happens in Kashmir, they can't simply claim that it was carried out by Kashmiri freedom fighters, as they used to openly support that narrative almost 20 years ago. These days, the only option left seems to be calling it a “false flag” operation.

So, do you really believe Pakistan will go back to that old policy? Because I know Pakistan has already paid a very high cost for pursuing it. And situation has changed around after the world the 9/11.

A good example of the consequences of the same policy can still be seen along Pakistan's border with Afghanistan. If Pakistan had not supported such groups in the past, it might have had a much more stable relationship along that border today, perhaps more similar to the situation between Iran and Afghanistan.
