India's conducted what I refer to as "vote fixing". Kashmiris historically have hated the current regime with minimal turnout at elections. Their original plan was identical to the Israeli one for Palestine. They revoked Article 370 unilaterally and without discussion with the Kashmiris. This has not helped India buy the affections of the Kashmiris as they had intended. During my last contact with Kashmir, India was busy in redevelopment, taking up lands that historically belonged to Kashmiris. Objections to these plans became voices in the wilderness. Kashmiris have a loud voice. India's silenced everything from the media to social networking. Its its a bit like switching of Kashmiris completely unless they align and agree with the Indian regime. Anyone raising their voice is fired from employment or arrested. These days no one has any idea how many innocent people are imprisoned. Mr RSS Sin-ha is busy ruling Kashmiris with an iron hand.

India now continues to gloat about connectivity, is running roughshod over Kashmiri lands and building railways and roads. In the meantime, ruining the fragile environment by cutting lots of trees making the place more vulnerable to the perils of climate change.

In the interim, the Kashmiri media is reduced to talking about the weather. Kashmiris suffer in silence. Pakistan Foreign Office makes a few statements. Turkey bleats on and India continues to hold Kashmiris in the largest open air prison in the world.

There is no "acceptable Indian government in Kashmir", nor is there some "restitution through development" that can be achieved. Congress (as irrelevant now as they have become) and BJP are two sides of the same coin.
