BRICS adds more members

Some Indian guy said here, India will not let Pakistan into BRICS, same way Pakistan will not India in OIC.

I didn't know India has veto power in BRICS, or it does not?

Can anyone confirm?
I’m not sure if there’s a veto system in place, but as the 2nd largest and fastest-growing economy in BRICS, India definitely has enough influence to block Pakistan’s entry—even as an observer.

Very "powerful" indeed. Considering it has done absolutely nothing of consequence so far, and the only reason for calling it strong is China + India's combined economy size, and not something the BRICS block has done

BRICS will probably develop to be something in between the EU and UN.
Wont have its own parliament and things like that. Will be more a economic coordination forum.

In the end, only USA will be left out, all others will be in BRICS

BRICS has a Charter of consensus. So any potential new member needs approval of all original BRICS members.

Well if China can be in BRICS, which is an enemy of China, then Pakistan can be in BRICS.

No, you can't.

BRICS was not founded by China which invited others later. It was a term coined by an economist in the West for high growth markets. All the countries then decided to start a forum together. Charter of consensus was incorporated at that time.

Grow up! Stop acting as if BRICS is something as prestigious as OIC.

If China can be in BRICS, then so can Pakistan.

I think all other BRICS + countries have no objection of Pakistan joining the group, it's only India against Pakistan.

These are my sentiments as well.
That’s true; while the other four founding members of BRICS might agree on including Pakistan, it’s highly unlikely that India would support this decision. Given the current dynamics, it’s impossible for Pakistan to become a BRICS partner.

So no new members added for 2024? Sheesh why not just send invitation to Indonesia, Nigeria, and Vietnam where most countries don't have a problem with. I think algeria and Uruguay (not sure about Bangladesh) have a high chance of acceptance because they are already part of the brics development bank. Pakistan will get its chance but I'm not sure how it's possible without India approval.

What has OIC achieved till date to make it more prestigious than BRICS. The biggest members of OIC are lining up to join BRICS.

There are no free trade agreement among BRICS countries.the only good thing coming out of BRICS is countries have agreed to use local currencies in financial transactions with each other and their trading partners but it can also be done without Brics. In terms of economic cooperation it's still a very heavy china centric.i would say nafta,RCEP, and the EU are bigger in trade volume but the potential for BRICS is endless if done right.

I don't think either is prestigious.

And surprised to hear you say oic is prestigious. Lol. They've accomplished literally nothing so far. I don't think anybody cares for oic.

Or do you mean opec? Because that body is indeed influential.
