Charted: 776 Million Tonnes of Rice Production by Country, China and India together grow more rice than the rest of the world combined

Great, then what's the problem with feeding your people

India is the lowest on the hunger index then the rest of south Asia
Bhai we are poor people we live in slums do you think we can afford rice

We just drink some water from our polluted rivers 😭😭

That's why we will be cutting the supply of water from India to Pakistan 🥺🥺

Yaar, just look it up, why are you getting upset

This always puzzles me, how come China is the world biggest rice importer and India the biggest exporter while China grows more rice than India and the two countries have similar size of population.
Even more shocking when you consider the total grains produced by the two countries. China produces almost twice as much as India, yet it is exporting grains while China is importing. Maybe Indians don't have to eat that much but by meditation.

1. China

Total Grain Production in 2021: 633.84 million metric tons

2. United States

Total Grain Production in 2021: 452.62 million metric tons

3. India

Total Grain Production in 2021: 356.34 million metric tons

None of them can explain a contrast which is that stark and extreme.
More than 60 % of the population doesn't eat rice as a staple food - why can't this fact explain our lead in export??
And besides that we are growing rice in north and eastern India for the sole purpose of export

I m wondering how the contrast can be this big, China is also the world biggest wheat producer and importer.

I am so surprised, Japan only produces 10 M tones of rice each year, how can they possibly feed their population ? I thought Japan wants to be self-sufficient in food supplies.

It's not about rice it's about lifestyle choices we make , the human body is designed to move not to sit all day long ( that's the case with most of the people today)
Nowadays no one is getting the physical movement , our ancestors used to walk miles and work in their fields almost all day long

Now we are just sitting and eating!!!
All true but in today's society and lifestyle, rice, that has the highest glycemic index (it is literally like injecting sugar into the bloodstream) of all cereals is killing far more people than all diseases except cancer and heart diseases. Easiest solution is to replace rice with another cereal like wheat. Corn (maize) is also bad.

It's not the about rice or wheat, China is also the world biggest wheat producer and importer.
A possible hypothesis is that Chinese consume lot more non-vegetarian food compared to Indians. A study says that it takes 10 kg of grain to get 1 kg of meat.

Then the opposite should be true.

Another hypothesis is that Chinas food quality is so low that even chinese do not want to feed it to their own kids, they ransack western markets for baby formula to the extent asians are now limited to small amounts purchased allowed.

Talking rubbish nonsense, Indian just to cover up the disgrace that no one in the world wants to eat trash Indian food, but Chinese food is one of the popular ones. Are there any Indian restaurants in US, lol ?

Most of north and northeast India rice is not their staple food. Even in south India we prefer local varieties than basmati (like in Telugu states our most preferred is sona masoori). Every state in south india have their own varieties as preferred choice. Our breakfast does not include rice. Our dinners are mostly wheat products. doctors routinely suggest people in Telugu states to eat one meal of rice and other meals wheat and millets. We rarely eat basmati in our house as I do not like the smell. My hometown variety Kurnool sona masoori is renowned in both Telugu states as one of of the premium variety. May be BW needs to go and see Indian supermarkets in USA to see what Indians buy and eat. It will give him a realistic idea. You can see how many varieties are available and most of them write from which state they are sourced. We understand the sarcasm and know the truth not as projected by Chinese India is doing enough to alleviate hunger and poverty. This has no connection with India being one of the top exporters of rice. This has more to do with our eating habits.
