Chinese company Chery started sales of the updated Tiggo 7 crossover in the domestic market. In this respect reports carnewschina.com. Prices start from 74.9 thousand yuan (968 thousand rubles at the exchange rate at the time of publication. Approximately how much does Lada Niva Legend cost in the Russian Federation).
The new car differs from the pre-refresh car with its radiator grille consisting of numerous chrome-plated matrix elements. At the rear, the lights are still connected by a jumper and only three body colors are available (white, gray and black). Instead of the previous 12.3-inch dual screens, a single 24.6-inch screen is now used in the cabin.
Dimensions remain the same: length – 4500 mm, wheelbase – 2670 mm. The power unit also remained unchanged – in China the Tiggo 7 is offered with a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 156 hp. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission or CVT.
It happened before that knownAustralian tuner studio Tinman Fabrications has modified a used Toyota FJ Cruiser SUV, turning it into a pickup truck. Tuners divided the SUV body in half, added a part to the frame, increasing the wheelbase to three meters. The aluminum platform was taken from the Australian commercial version of the Toyota Hilux, while the rear wall of the cabin was taken from the Nissan Patrol.

World’s largest EV producer to open 15 showrooms in Vietnam next month

China's BYD, the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, will inaugurate 15 showrooms in Vietnam in June, COO of BYD Vietnam Vo Minh Luc told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

The firm is working on the opening of other showrooms to have a total of 50 showrooms in the Southeast Asian country this year.

The showrooms will be situated in key locations across Vietnam, including Hanoi and Hai Phong City in the north, Da Nang City in the central region, and Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, and Can Tho City in the south.

After a decade of studying the Vietnamese market and collaborating with local authorities and partners, BYD has resolved to enter the market, marking its presence in the last Southeast Asian market where its products were not previously available.

Given Vietnam's significance as a market for BYD, the company acknowledges the necessity of dedicating time to thoroughly studying the market and preparing for its entry.

"Once this process is concluded, we will swiftly and robustly initiate business activities in Vietnam," stated Luc.

In the initial period, BYD will introduce its three pure EV models to the Vietnamese market, including the Atto 3, small hatchback Dolphin, and Seal.

The company expects the three models to see as impressive sales as they have in Thailand and Malaysia.

The BYD Vietnam executive added that by the last quarter of this year, the firm will introduce three more models, including the sedan BYD Han, the hybrid Seal Lion, and the SUV Tang, to the Vietnamese market.

The Atto 3 is considered BYD’s key product in many markets, including Thailand, with a price of VND625-730 million (US$24,714-28,858) each.

In Vietnam, the model will compete directly with gasoline-powered SUVs, such as Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.

Liu Xue Liang, general manager of BYD Asia-Pacific auto sales division, said BYD considers Vietnam an important and potential market, so Vietnam is the last market in Southeast Asia for it to enter.

The firm looks to develop its agents across 20 large cities and provinces, Liu added.

He expects BYD's EV sales to be a success in the Vietnamese market as EVs have become an irreversible trend.

BYD became the largest EV manufacturer in 2023 thanks to its batteries and workforce with up to 90,000 engineers and designers.

Except for tires and glass, BYD can study, design, and manufacture the remaining parts of vehicles, Liu informed.

He shared that Thai customers queue up to buy BYD vehicles. The firm currently accounts for 40 percent of the EV market share in Thailand and 44 percent in Malaysia.

“We expect the same success in Vietnam as the country already has an EV firm and local residents have expressed their interest in EVs which are cost-saving and eco-friendly,” the BYD representative said.

Regarding charging stations, Liu said BYD would not invest in its own charging stations in Vietnam but is working with partners to do the job.

He also affirmed BYD’s desire to construct a factory in Vietnam but refused to reveal the detailed plan.

Xiaomi can produce an SU7 every 76 seconds thanks to new production processes

Xiaomi has given details of the innovations it is using as part of its production process. Tesla’s process is known as gigacasting and Xiaomi uses both this and stamping to produce the SU7.

LOL! I knew it!
Gigacasting is just a stupid Elon Musk idea to Chinese PDF members...until one of their own companies embraces it.

Changan-Huawei-CATL-baked Avatr 15 new energy crossover was officially unveiled in China. It will enter the Chinese market in H2 2024 to rival the Tesla Model Y. The Avatr 15 will be available in both EREV and EV variants. It is a fastback crossover with sleek styling and some remarkable features.

Avatr 11 and Avatr 12 at the Beijing Auto Show
Avatr was initially founded in 2018 as a joint project between Changan and a well-known Chinese startup, Nio. Later, Nio distanced from the JV because of financial reasons. CATL replaced it in this joint project. Nowadays, Changan owns 40% of the shares, while CATL holds over 17%. The rest belongs to local investment funds. As for Huawei, it acts as the leading supplier.

The current Avatr model line consists of two models: 11 SUV and 12 hatchback. This year, this brand will launch a new product – Avatr 15. It was seen several times in China during road tests. And now, Avatr shared official images of the 15 models.

More on Avatr 15

The Avatr 15 in official images is covered in heavy camouflage. However, it follows the brand’s distinguishing design language. Its front end has two-tiered LED running lights and an active air intake in the lower part of the bumper. From the side, the 15 SUV adopts cameras instead of mirrors, retractable door handles, and a hitch in the rear.

The Avatr 15 is positioned as one of many Tesla Model Y rivals. It is a mid-size SUV with a length of around 4750 mm. The Avatr 15 stands on the CHN architecture jointly developed by Changan, CATL, and Huawei. It supports both EREV and BEV powertrain variants. It was previously confirmed that the Avatr 15 would get hybrid and all-electric variants. Other rivals of the Avatr 15 are Xpeng G6, BYD Song Plus, and the upcoming BYD Sea Lion 07.
The Avatr 15’s camouflage discloses some details about its testing location. We can notice a latitude of 49°22’N and a longitude of 120°85’E. These are coordinates of the area next to Yakeshi city, Inner Mongolia. It is said to be the coldest Chinese city, with a lowest temperature of minus 50.4 degrees Celsius. This way, Avatr 15 hints it is ready for severe cold-weather conditions.

More details on Avatr 15 will be disclosed later. We will also remind you that Avatr previously announced plans of going overseas. Its initial market is Thailand. Other future key markets are Central Asia, North Africa, South America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Next, Avatr plans to enter EU and NA markets.

Thanks to leaks by netizens of Onvo brand information we now know a lot more about Nio’s mass-market brand. The first model the L60 is designed to compete with the Tesla Model Y. Together with battery information we now know some of the other key specifications.

As speculated battery packs have been confirmed to be 60 and 90 kWh for the Onvo brand, which was previously known by the Alps codename. The smaller pack uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries produced by BYD subsidiary FinDreams whereas the larger packs use NCM cells from CATL. Although compatible with Nio’s third generation battery swap stations the thickness of the pack has been reduced to free up more space inside the car. Pictures show the car with both a fast and slow charging port.

According to the netizen on Weibo the Onvo L60 will be highly efficient. Not only does the car use a 900V silicon carbide platform but due to the coupe shape the drag is very low. These combined with being relatively lightweight mean that the L60 should have better efficiency (kWh/100 km) than the Model Y. Reportedly the car has a new generation self-developed electric motor which ensures strong power output.

At the front the Onvo L60 rides on MacPherson strut suspension while at the back it has a five-link independent setup.

Inside the netizen claims the quality is nearly as good as the Nio brand. On the dashboard is a central control screen similar to the one in the forthcoming Nio ET9. Powering the cockpit is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip.

The Onvo L60 is expected to sell for around 220,000 yuan (30,500 USD) and with the battery as a service option an even lower 170,000 yuan (23,550 USD). Nio is targeting sales of 20,000 per month. We expect the car to be revealed later this month with sales commencing in the third quarter of the year, followed by deliveries in the fourth quarter.

Ahead of the Denza Z9 GT launch in May we have got hold of some spy shots of the interior. The flagship wagon from the Denza brand, in which Merecedes-Benz still owns a 10% stake with the remainder belonging to BYD, will start deliveries around the middle of the year. Sales in Europe will commence in 2025.

Thanks to the MIIT listing we have a very good idea of the outside of the car but until now we didn’t know much about how the interior looked. From recent spy shots we can see the Z9 continues on from the style first seen in the Denza N7, however given its flagship status we can expect the equipment levels and materials to be superior. There’s a three screen setup in the front with an LCD instrument panel for the driver, a large floating infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard and an entertainment screen for the passenger integrated into the dashboard.

As spied the car has a beige and brown scheme for the interior although there are likely to be other options as well. On the center console is a large crystal rocker style gear selector. Below this are buttons to control functions including the driving mode, braking regeneration strength, air conditioning and other commonly selected functions.

The Denza Z9 measures in at 5180, 1990, and 1500 (1480) mm in terms of length, width and height. And with a wheelbase of 3125 mm it is really quite a large car. Design wise it looks quite similar to the N7 except in a lower, larger form. We know that the Denza Z9 GT comes with a panoramic roof and an electric wing.
It will be the most powerful Denza to date with a three motor system. On the front axle is a 230 kW motor while the rear axle has two motors with 240 kW each. Combined power is 710 kW giving the Z9 a top speed of 240 km/h – not bad for a car weighing 2,875 kg. Feeding those motors will be BYD’s blade battery but as yet we don’t know the capacity of the unit.
Denza has certainly come a long way from it’s slow selling days when it is was a 50:50 joint venture. Mercedes-Benz watered down its stake in 2021 and since then the brand has gone front strength to strength.

It’s not unknown for Chinese car companies to officially leak information, we should know we’ve brought you some of them! What’s happening with the Lynk & Co Zero is looking suspiciously like that. At the end of last month we brought you one straight on shot of the Lynk & Co Zero without camouflage. Today we bring you a couple more shots revealing the side and back. Eagle eyed readers might work out the location looks suspiciously like that in the shot from last time. Could Lynk & Co be feeding us with images to build excitement in the run up to the launch of the Zero around the middle of the year?

Some Chinese media are referring to the Zero as a sedan version of the Zeekr 001. There is certainly a big problem with what exactly the difference is between the two brands but with the new shots from Weibo user SugarDesign we can see the design direction of them seems to be diverging. Rather than looking like the Zeekr 001 it is far easier to see echoes of the Lynk & Co 07 EM-P in the design. A new version of the h shaped Dawn Light running lights instantly reinforce the family connection. At the front the hood seems quite strongly raked and lower down there is a large air intake.
Noticeable on the new spy shots are the wheels which seem to have low drag alloys which look very different to those seen on camouflaged cars. We can also see clearly the blacked out pillars and the very sharp angle that the window line angles up between the C and D pillars.

At the back there is ducktail type design along with the through light bar punctuated by four rectangular protrusions. We expect the car to be over 5 meters in length and around 2 meters wide with a wheelbase close on 3 meters.

The Zero uses the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform and should have an AI digital chassis along with 800V architecture. Performance and drivetrain specifications are likely similar to Zeekr cars riding on the same platform and the Zeekr 001 certainly is likely to be very comparable. Reports suggest that the Zero will come with four wheel steering, CDC electromagnetic dual-chamber air suspension and be able to undertake maneuvers such as tank turns and crab walking.
Previously seen Lynk & Co Zero spy shots
Prices are likely to be in the 200,000 to 300,000 yuan (27,750-41,600 USD) range and the car will compete with models like the Xiaomi SU7 and IM L6.

Geely announced that its Panda Mini EV – Go Kart Edition will launch on May 9. The car has already started pre-sale with a price tag of 48,900 yuan (6,800 USD) in late April. As a derivative of the Panda Mini, the Go Kart Edition has adjusted its appearance and has a CLTC cruising range of 200 km.

Geely positioned the Panda Go Kart Edition as an “urban micro-electric kart”. In terms of appearance, the new car continues the current body design, mainly adding a more sporty look with a ‘sonic flight tail’, resembling a go-kart.
The Go Kart Edition runs on 14-inch color-block rims.

Additionally, the Go Kart Edition measures 3150/1540/1685 mm, and the wheelbase is 2015 mm. Compared with the Panda Knight, the new car’s length is increased by 15 mm, the height is increased by 20 mm, and the width is reduced by 25 mm. Compared with the Panda Mini, the length is increased by 85 mm, the width is increased by 18 mm, and the height is increased by 85 mm.
At the same time, the cockpit continues the layout of the current model, with a 9.2-inch slender rectangular instrument panel, an 8-inch central control, and a D-shaped steering wheel.
In terms of intelligence, configurations such as wireless screen projection from mobile phones, remote control (i.e. air conditioner, trunk access), remote vehicle status inquiry, voice control, and navigation are offered.

Additionally, after the rear seats are folded down, the trunk storage capacity can be increased to 800 L.
The powertrain consists of an electric motor that outputs a maximum power of 30 kW and a peak torque of 110 Nm, paired with a 17.03 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. Two driving modes are supported, namely, normal and sport modes. The top speed is 100 km/h. In addition, both 22 kW DC fast charging and 3.3 kW AC slow charging functions are available. Under fast charging, the battery can replenish from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes. The standard slow charging time is 4.5 hours.
