Exeed brand, owned by Chinese automaker Chery, started sales of the new Era ET crossover. reports Automatic home.
The car entered the Chinese market at prices ranging from 189.8 to 319.8 thousand yuan (2.4 million – 4 million rubles). The car is available in two versions: hybrid and electric. The basic version of the car is equipped with a battery designed to travel 200 km on a single charge and a gasoline engine that acts as a generator.
The fully electric version is based on 800 volt architecture and has a battery with a range of 625 km on a single charge. The minimum cost of the Era ET electric car is 229.8 thousand yuan (2.9 million rubles). The interior of the new product is covered in leather, and a 15-inch media system screen is mounted on the front panel.

Sales of the Geely Panda Karting compact car started in China. reports Automatic home.
The electric hatchback entered the local market in a single configuration at a cost of 46.9 thousand yuan (592 thousand rubles). The two-door vehicle is designed for four passengers. The interior features a two-tone front fascia with white or pink accents in addition to the main black. Instead of a radiator grille, Panda Karting has a solid panel painted in body color. In order to give the car a sporty appearance, there are decorative elements in the form of diffusers on the front and rear bumpers, as in sports cars.
The compact hatchback is equipped with an electric motor producing 41 hp. and a traction battery that provides a range of up to 200 km.
Formerly Land Rover presented Updated the Defender with an increased power diesel engine.

On May 9, the Exeed Sterra ET officially entered the market, available in EV and EREV versions in a total of eight models, with a price range of 189,800 – 319,800 yuan (26,300 – 44,300 USD). Exeed is a high-end brand under Chery.

Positioned as a medium-to-large SUV, the Exeed Sterra ET measures 4955/1975/1698 mm with a 3000 mm wheelbase. It is built on the E0X electric platform.
The entire vehicle has up to 956 LED lamp beads for lighting, according to Exeed. The car is also equipped with a roof lidar to realize advanced driving assistance capabilities, which Chery partnered with Bosch to build the solution.

Inside, the cockpit is offered in four colors: brown, gray, black, and purple. Notable features include a 15.6-inch 2.5K central control screen, a 10.25-inch floating LCD instrument panel, and a D-shaped steering wheel. The in-vehicle voice assistant is based on the Lion AI model.
In addition, the Exeed Sterra ET has a 2.38㎡ panoramic sunroof, a 23-speaker system, and a center console that can slid open.
The windows are equipped with 6mm double-layer laminated glass to reduce the noise level. The standard trunk storage volume is 546 L and can be expanded to 1835 L after the rear seats are folded down.

The EV version is available in five models, powered by a rear electric motor or dual electric motors and CATL’s Shenxing battery pack. The fastest 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 3.8 seconds and the top speed is 210 km/h. Based on an 800-volt architecture, the fastest charging time is 9 minutes to replenish the battery from 30% to 80%.

Furthermore, the EREV version offers three models for consumers to choose from and is powered by a rear electric motor and a 1.5T range-extender engine, paired with a 32 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack from CATL. The electric motor outputs 195 kW and 324 Nm while the engine outputs 115 kW and 220 Nm. The 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 7.8 seconds and the top speed is 180 km/h.
The entire series has a CLTC pure electric range of 200 km and a CLTC comprehensive range of 1,518 km. At the same time, Exeed claims that the official measured comprehensive range is over 2,000 km. Built on a 400-volt architecture, the fastest charging time is 28 minutes to replenish the battery from 30% to 80%.

Chery dropped a crossover from the height of a 10-story building to demonstrate the safety of its vehicles. In this respect reports Telegram channel Unlimited.

A special feature of the car is the presence of a unique health monitoring system that can monitor passengers’ heart rate, blood pressure and other indicators in real time.
The Exlantix ET has four powertrain options. The first two are single-wheel drive with engines of 252 or 313 hp. The third modification offers all-wheel drive with a total power of 480 hp. The fourth modification is equipped with an engine with a power of 561 hp. Power reserve varies between 550 km and 760 km depending on the version.
In China, prices range from 199 to 329 thousand yuan (about 2.6-4.5 million rubles at the exchange rate at the time of publication).

Nio, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, achieved a significant milestone on May 9th as it produced its 500,000th car. The occasion was celebrated at the Xinqiao Intelligent Electric Vehicle Industrial Park in Hefei, capital of the Anhui province. Various dignitaries, many government and industry leaders, and William Li, the Founder and CEO of Nio, attended the event. Liu Qingfeng, the Chairman of iFlytek Co. and the user of the 500,000th Nio vehicle delivered a speech.


Before the event, many attendees visited the assembly workshop of Nio’s second advanced manufacturing base and tested some of the new vehicle models. They gained detailed insights into the company’s technological research and development, production, and market sales. Han Jun, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that electrification, intelligence, connectivity, and sharing are the major trends driving the development of the automotive industry. He said that “as a globally leading intelligent electric vehicle company, Nio should seize the opportunities brought by the automotive industry’s transformation. It should prioritize innovation capacity building, continuously make breakthroughs in key areas such as powertrain, autonomous driving, and artificial intelligence, accelerate the iteration and upgrade of existing models, and develop high-quality vehicle designs. Furthermore, Nio should strive to build a comprehensive and sound automotive industry ecosystem.” Han Jun expressed his hope that the production of the 500,000th vehicle would serve as a new starting point for Nio, enabling it to aim for higher goals, establish ambitious aspirations, expand its market share, and continuously enhance its comprehensive strength and competitiveness.
During the event, participants, user representatives, and frontline technical workers jointly lit up a column, symbolizing the completion of the 500,000th Nio vehicle. Since establishing its headquarters in Hefei in April 2020, Nio has successively completed the establishment or relocation of various core business entities, including research and development, sales and service, key component development and manufacturing, and autonomous driving. It has implemented 12 full-stack technology layouts and obtained over 8,700 patents. In 2023, Nio achieved a revenue exceeding 55.6 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 12.9%.


William Li stated in his speech that the production of Nio’s 500,000th vehicle signifies the company’s solid position in the high-end intelligent electric vehicle market. He emphasized that the Anhui province has a favorable business environment and great development potential, and Nio will remain firmly rooted in Anhui. He said the “company will continue to launch new technologies and vehicle models, helping the province become the best place globally to experience intelligent electric vehicles and to establish a global innovation and industrial highland for intelligent electric vehicles.”

Avatr 07 EREV crossover from Changan, CATL and Huawei was officially unveiled in China as a direct competitor of the Tesla Model Y. It was previously known by its code name Avatr 15. The 07 SUV will enter the market this year within a price range of 250,000 – 350,000 yuan (34,600 – 48,400 USD). Later, it will be also available in fully electric variant.

Our regular readers know that Avatr is a joint venture between Changan and CATL. In this JV, the state-owned automaker owns 40%, and the world’s biggest battery manufacturer holds over 17%. The rest belongs to local investment funds. Huawei is also a part of Avatr project, but it isn’t a shareholder. Instead, Huawei acts as the key parts supplier. Worth noting that Avatr was initially launched in 2018 as a joint project between Changan and Nio. But later Nio distanced from the JV.

Avatr’s model line currently comprises two all-electric models: the 11 SUV and the 12 hatchback. However, this brand makes a transition into the EREV segment to increase the sales volume. And the Avatr 07 crossover will become the brand’s first range extender.

Avatr 07 officially revealed​

The Avatr 07 crossover follows the Avatr 2.0 design language. Its front end stays in line with the Avatr 12 hatchback thanks to two-layered LED running lights and headlights integrated into the front bumper. The Avatr 07 also has an active grille with an Avatr inscription. This SUV also has a LiDAR sensor on top of the roof. Previously, it was reported that Huawei supplies LiDARs to Avatr.
The Avatr 07 adopts 265/45 R21 wheels with aerodynamic wheel covers. It also adopts retractable door handles, gray trim in the lower part of the body, and rearview cameras instead of traditional mirrors. From the back, the Avatr 07 adopts two thin taillight units and a rather modest rear spoiler.
The dimensions of the Avatr 07 are 4825/1980/1620 mm with a wheelbase of 2940 mm. It is the smallest car in the Avatr line. However, it is still bigger than the Model Y. It is 75 mm longer, 59 mm wider, and 4 mm lower, to be precise. Inside, the Avatr 07 has five seats. Its interior was exposed in spy shots. It also stays in line with the Avatr 12 hatchback.

The Avatr 07 will be available in both EREV and EV variants. Its range-extended version was previously spotted in China. Its price range is revealed to be around 250,000 – 350,000 yuan (34,600 – 48,400 USD). It will enter the market in Q3 this year.

At today’s annual general meeting with shareholders Great Wall management discussed various aspects of the company’s progress. Most interesting is the news Great Wall has made working solid-state batteries, along with improvements in charging technology.

Solid state batteries​

Great Wall now has the ability to produce small capacity solid state pouch cells. The key of course is for Great Wall to now scale this up economically into something that can be used in cars. Pouch cells use a flexible pouch shaped design which has a multilayered laminate structure which contain the anode, cathode and a separator. Pouches are sealed forming individual cells. Due to being lightweight and compact pouch cells are very suitable for use in electric vehicles.

Great Wall are investing in a number of different battery technologies including lithium iron phosphate, lithium manganese iron phosphate, cobalt-free, ternary, sodium-ion, and solid-state in order to meet different requirements such as cost, battery life and performance.

GWM joins a long list of Chinese companies making claims about solid state batteries. So far none have put such a battery into commercial use although both Nio and IM Motors are on the verge of releasing cars using semi-solid state batteries.
True solid state batteries are considered to be the holy grail of battery technology thanks to their high energy density, stability and by extension safety, and the ability to operate across a wide range of temperatures. In a normal battery there is a liquid electrolyte which carries the ions but in a solid state battery all parts are solid.
Current battery technology is rapidly reaching the upper limits of energy density. For liquid high-nickel ternary lithium-ion cells the upper limit is estimated to be 350-400 Wh/kg whereas for lithium manganese iron phosphate batteries it’s believed to be only 250 Wh/kg.

Battery charging​

Great Wall has developed a 4C supercharging battery cell. This will likely enter production soon and it can add as much as 500 km range in 10 minutes. The company is also working on an ultra-fast charging 6C cell.

Li Ruifeng, the Chief Growth Officer of GWM, revealed that the Tank 800 would be unveiled by the end of the year. The Tank 800 will be the new flagship model for the Tank brand. Also announced was a facelifted version of the Lightning Cat which will go on sale in the second half of the year.

According to Great Wall Motor’s Chief Growth Officer, Li Ruifeng, the Tank 800 should unveil by the end of this year. The largest SUV yet from the GWM Tank brand, it will be the flagship model.

People often talk about China speed but the Tank 800 is by itself contributing to lifting the average significantly. The first time the car was seen was at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show and very little had been heard of the car since, until spy shots emerged earlier this year. Quite why the car has taken so long is difficult to know seeing as the Shanghai car looked near production ready. Spy shots of the screen show what the forthcoming Tank 800 will look like and it doesn’t seem significantly different to the car shown in 2021.

Like the Tank 700 Hi4-T which is currently the flagship model for the Tank brand the Tank 800 is likely to debut as a PHEV. Given that the Tank 800 will be an even bigger car the powertrain will likely be the same. This means that the Hi4-T plugin hybrid system is built around a 3.0T V6 engine rather than the 2.0T unit in the remainder of the Tank range. In the Tank 700 Hi4-T the engine is matched with a P2 electric motor giving a combined output of 385 kW and maximum torque of 800 Nm. The car uses a 9-speed automatic gearbox which has been optimized for hybrids. A single front mounted electric motor provides up to 120 kW of power and 400 Nm torque. Meanwhile the longitudinal petrol engine provides 265 kW power and 560 Nm torque. The battery will likely be the same Svolt 37.1 kWh unit as in the Tank 700 Hi4-T.

Currently the size of the Tank 800 is unknown but it is a large SUV and likely in the region of 5.2 meters long. Looking somewhat like an enlarged Tank 500 it struck a quite regal image at the 2021 Shanghai Show with its purple and gold paintwork. It is quite boxy and at the front there is circular LED design inside the headlight cluster and the grille has strong vertical bars.
Spy shots show the interior is similar to the Tank 500 and there is a dark brown interior together with wood trim. The car gets a head up display. The general layout of the center console is very similar to the Tank 500 with a chunky drive shifter and rotating drive mode selector. There seems to be a fair amount of chrome decoration inside and the interior seems spacious. It is possible that the Tank 800 is a six or seven seater, which would be a first for the brand.

Prices are likely to start at around 500,000 yuan (69,200 USD). With air suspension and double wishbone suspension both front and rear the Tank 800 should have reasonable off-road capability.

Zeekr Intelligent Technology Holdings successfully listed on the New York Stock Exchange in the US, raising 441 million on IPO. It is a company under Geely Group, a privately owned Chinese automaker that owns Volvo. This financial boost will help Zeekr to enter overseas markets and broaden its model line.


Zeekr is a high-end electric brand under Geely Group that was launched in 2021. In a few years, it turned into one of the bestselling domestic EV brands. In 2023, Zeekr delivered 118,685 cars. It has also entered European, Central Asian, and South East Asian markets. Currently, the Zeekr mode line comprises four vehicles: the Zeekr X crossover, Zeekr 001 liftback, Zeekr 007 sedan, and Zeekr 009 minivan. Soon, it will also launch the Mix MPV and CX1E SUV.

Zeekr finished IPO​

On May 10, Zeekr finished its IPO, an initial public offering. So, it has officially become a public company. Zeekr issued 21 million American depositary shares for 21 USD per share on the New York Stock Exchange. As a result, it raised 441 million USD, 73.5 million USD more than previous predictions from financial experts. This increase was caused by oversubscription.


Moreover, Zeekr will be able to expand to 24.15 million American depositary shares in the future. It will allow Zeekr to raise 507 million USD. Zeekr CEO An Conghui mentioned that Zeekr has set a record for the fastest time from launch to IPO among new energy vehicle brands. It took Zeekr only 37 months to list on NYSE. According An Conghui, Zeekr’s secret is combination of Geely Group’s car manufacturing experience and global resources.

Zeekr officials shared that the increase of the equity capital from public investors will allow this brand to achieve global compliance, transparent and sustainable development, and provide Investors stable long-term value by developing low-carbon manufacturing and corporate ESG. After the IPO, Geely Group founder Li Shufu owns 74.6% of Zeekr shares, and Zeekr CEO An Conghui holds 2.8% of the stock.
