Chinese company Geely started sales of the Galaxy E5 crossover in the domestic market on August 3, 2024. reports carnewschina.com.

The price of the car varies from 112 to 157 thousand yuan (1.3-1.8 million rubles). The Galaxy E5 is equipped with a new generation lithium iron phosphate battery, which is available in two capacities of 49.5 and 60.2 kWh (power reserve – 440 and 530 km), respectively.

There is a power unit – an electric motor with a capacity of 218 hp, a four-level energy recovery system. The design elements of the car are reminiscent of a tiger’s face; narrow headlights are reminiscent of the animal’s eyes, and whiskers on the bumper. The use of a solid panel instead of a grille in the front of the body reduced the drag coefficient. The car has built-in door handles that Geely promises will work even in the most difficult weather conditions. The automaker plans to share this technology with the industry.

The dimensions of the E5 are 4615x1901x1670 mm, and the wheelbase is 2750 mm. The size of the car is similar to the Porsche Macan. The car will be available in eight colors: red, pink, gray, green, white, silver, black and blue.

Previously reportedSales of VGV cars in Russia have reportedly been postponed.

Seres is best known these days as Huawei‘s partner in the Aito brand. However, Seres still produces cars under its own name, and thanks to a government regulator we now know more about the latest car. It should be noted that while the car is badged as the Landian E5, Chinese media are referring to the car as the Landian E5 Plus.

The car is different from the model currently on sale and seems to take many styling cues from the Aito M7 Ultra, which this month itself had two new listings with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. We can see that the Seres Landian E5 Plus has an enclosed front face, the E5 currently on sale has a far more traditional open grille type front. At the bottom of the fender of the new PHEV is an air inlet, along with two ones at the sides.

From the sides the new car looks the same as the existing version. At the rear one of the most noticeable difference is that the brand now reads Seres Hubei rather than just Seres as before.

It measures 4760, 1865, and 1710 mm, and its wheelbase is 2785 mm. The car is available in five and seven-seat configurations. There are two listings with MIIT for the car, one weighing 1840 kg and the other 1900 kg. Buyers will have a choice between 17, 18, and 19-inch wheels. The angles of approach and departure for the car are 19 and 24 degrees, respectively.

Options on the new Landian E5 Plus
The new car has a plug-in hybrid system centered around an H15R 1.5-liter petrol engine. Unlike the existing car, the engine is now from Xiaokang Power, whereas the engine for the old version was purchased from Fodi Power. Power is 70 kW, which is an 11 kW decrease from the previous engine. On the other hand, the electric motor now has 160 kW power, which is an increase of 30 kW. The top speed of the car is 180 km/h.

The current Seres Landian E5 for reference
The Landian E5 plus uses lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by Gotion. Using the CLTC measuring system, the car’s all-electric range is reported to be 150 km and its comprehensive range to be 1300 km.

Images of Wuling Hongguang range-extended compact MPV was revealed as part of the latest batch of MIIT’s application catalog. The new car is equipped with a 1.5-liter range extender with a maximum power of 73 kW.

Previously, all-new Wuling Hongguang fuel and pure electric versions were also revealed. The pure electric version is estimated to have a range of 300 km. The official guiding price of the current Wuling Hongguang is between 46,500 yuan and 60,900 yuan (6,500 – 8,500 USD).

Wuling Hongguang Range-Extended Version

Wuling Hongguang gas/range-extender and electric versions
The exterior of the Wuling Hongguang EREV stays in line with the electric and ICE versions. All three versions have a new smooth and minimalistic design for 2025, a departure from the more old-school 2024 model. The new model also features a noticeably larger windshield than the 2024 version.

2025 Wuling Hongguang gas/range-extender rear
The rear continues the minimalist design with vertically arranged taillights and a large rear door. The large rear door allows for convenient loading and unloading of cargo. From the rear view alone, it is almost impossible to distinguish whether the car is powered by fuel, range-extension, or pure electricity.

In terms of body size, the dimensions of the 2025 Wuling Hongguang are 4515/1725/1790 mm, with a wheelbase of 2850 mm. Under the hood, the Wuling Hongguang has a 1.5-liter LBH engine from Saike Tech. Its peak power reaches 73 kW (98 hp). The power of an electric motor has yet to be revealed. As for the battery pack, it is an 8.5 kWh LFP pack made by Ningfu New Energy or RPSK for 43 km of range.

More on the Wuling Hongguang

Previous year’s 2024 Wuling Hongguang
The Wuling Hongguang is a storied model for the Chinese auto industry. The car first launched in 2010 and sold nearly 5 million models in its first 10 years on the market. The Hongguang was marketed towards second-tier cities such as Harbin and Kunming. Those cities have large small business sectors, the car’s ideal target market.

The 2025 Wuling Hongguang marks another evolution for the model as the new generation launches with electric powered versions for the first time. The Wuling Hongguang is positioned as a compact MPV, and the current models offer both cargo and passenger versions. Wuling has found great success with the kei car sized Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, selling over 1.1 million units. We will see if they can replicate that same success with this new model.

Days ago, we reported that the Honda Ye S7 produced by the Honda JV with Dongfeng was only available as a dual-motor version with a 620 km range. Thanks to a government regulator, we now know that it will also have a single-motor version.

The Honda Ye S7 SUV was first listed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last month, and we were surprised to see that there was just one version with very little variation. Based on the new information, we can assume that the dual motor is, in fact, the highest-spec version, with most versions using a single motor.

According to the MIIT listing for the single motor version weights are 2178, 2191, and 2175 kg. Furthermore, buyers have a choice between 19 or 21-inch wheels. The dimensions of the single-motor version are unsurprisingly identical to the dual-motor at 4750, 1930, and 1625 mm (l/w/h) with a wheelbase of 2930 mm. Angles of approach and departure for the Honda Ye S7 are 17 and 24 degrees, respectively.

Powering the rear wheel drive version is the same TZ220XSAMCF81 electric motor as in the all-wheel drive, delivering a peak power of 200 kW. The top speed for the car is 180 km/h. Currently, there are no details about the battery pack other than that it uses a ternary lithium battery supplied by CATL. We recently learned that the all-wheel drive version uses an 89.8 kWh battery also supplied by CATL. It is possible that the single-motor version uses the same battery or that this battery is the one used in the heaviest variant. If that is the case, we can expect a range of around 700 km using CLTC measurements. It should be noted that there is actually only one listing for the single motor version but 3 different weights and it is unclear what accounts for the differing weights.

Options according to the MIIT listing information
The Ye S7 is quite a departure from previous Honda cars, even including a new badge that no longer has the outline around the H logo. Both the front and rear light clusters are based on the idea of an elongated letter H, so thereby being through light types. The charging port for the car is on the right-hand side above the wheel arch.

Sales of both the single and dual-motor versions of the Honda Ye S7 are likely to begin within the next few months.

Chinese regulator (MIIT) revealed the new Haval Raptor Hi4 plug-in hybrid SUV. This vehicle has applied for a sales license in China. It has a redesigned exterior styling and a lower fuel consumption rate. The redesigned variant aims to boost the demand for the Raptor as its sales volume disappoints.

Current variant of the Haval Raptor Hi4
The Haval Raptor Hi4 entered the Chinese market in late 2023 as a GWM’s response to the growing trend for PHEVs. In April 2024, Haval launched a new variant of the Raptor (see specs). However, in the first seven months of 2024, this model sold less than 24,000 units. It is a low number. Now, Great Wall Motor is gearing up the facelift of this SUV to enhance the customers’ demand.

Haval Raptor Hi4 facelift

The new Haval Raptor Hi4 adopts a new design language with rectangular headlights instead of circular ones. Its front end has a bigger black-colored grille with chrome-plated elements. In the back, it has a swing-out tailgate with a spare wheel. Previously, GWM filed for the petrol-powered variant of the Raptor with the same styling.

Dimensions of the Haval Raptor Hi4 are 4680/1950/1822 mm with a wheelbase of 2738 mm. Its body length reaches 4800 mm with a spare wheel installed. Thanks to short bumpers and a blocky body shape, the approach and departure angles of the Raptor Hi4 are 24 and 30 degrees, respectively. It is also available with three wheel options: 265/60 R18, 245/55 R19, and 255/60 R19. The curb weight is 2055-2135 kg, depending on the variant.

New Haval Raptor Hi4 powertrain details

The Haval Raptor Hi4 has a new PHEV powertrain. It comprises a 1.5-liter GW5B15M turbocharged petrol-powered ICE with a peak power of 113 kW (152 hp). This isn’t a new engine. The same ICE powers the third-gen Haval H6 and the Haval Cool Dog (Haval H3). The current variant of the Haval Raptor Hi4 adopts the GW4B15E ICE for 123 kW (165 hp). So, the new variant has less power. There is no information about electric motors. There are three LFP battery options from SVOLT similar to the current version:

  • 18.74 kWh, 81 km
  • 19.09 kWh, 81 km
  • 27.54 kWh, 115 km
According to MIIT filings, the Raptor Hi4 has a fuel consumption of 1.13 L/100km without the rear differential lock installed. The current model has a fuel consumption of 1.15 L/100km. This means that the new Raptor has become slightly more efficient. It seems GWM wants to make an alternative to the hyped fifth generation of the BYD’s DM powertrain.

The new Haval Raptor is ready for the Chinese market. This car can make its debut at the Chengdu Motor Show 2024 scheduled for August 30. We will keep you informed so stay tuned!

Up to now, the Tank 400 from Great Wall Motor has been available only as a plug-in hybrid. There has been talk of a mild hybrid using a 48V system, but sales appear to have never started. Thanks to a government regulator, we now know that a diesel version of the Tank 400 will soon be released. And given that the listing is a requirement for a car to be sold in China, we know that the diesel is not just a car destined for export versions. It should be noted that Great Wall chairman, Wei Jianjun, has previously mentioned a diesel engine for the Tank 300.

Dimensions of the diesel remain largely unchanged from the Tank 400 Hi4-T and the car measures 4985, 1960, and 1905 mm (l/w/h) and has a wheelbase of 2850 mm the only difference being a 5 mm increase in height. The car is designed as a proper off-road vehicle with a body-on-frame structure. Where there is a very noticeable difference is the weight with the diesel version having a curb weight of just 2455 kg compared to 2770 kg for the PHEV.

Power is provided by an E24D 2.4 liter turbocharged diesel engine with a maximum output of 137 kW.

The diesel version is only available with 18-inch wheels and buyers have a choice from four different styles. The approach angle is 33 or 31 degrees and the departure is 33 or 29 degrees, with presumably the difference being due to the traction device. Towing capacity without brakes is 750 kg while for a braked trailer it is 2500 kg. The tow hook itself is optional.

Other options include a sunroof, opening panoramic roof, electric connectors and a dashcam.

The Tank 400 Hi4-T is priced from 285,800 to 289,800 yuan (39,850 – 40,400); prices for the diesel are expected to be lower. Despite the Tank 400 being originally shown in 2021, sales for the Hi4-T version did not commence until last year. Great Wall exports the Tank brand to various markets, including the Middle East and Australia, and export of the diesel version is highly likely.

Baojun started life as a budget brand from the SAIC GM Wuling JV, otherwise simply known as Wuling. Such brands from foreign JVs were usually hand-downs of old models. Initially, the cars produced by Baojun were new designs, even if they were cobbled together with items from the General Motors parts bin. In recent times, like the parent brand Wuling, Baojun has pivoted towards electrified vehicles. Thanks to information from a government ministry, we now know about the brand’s largest car to date, the Baojun Yunguang.

The new car comes in both fully electric and PHEV versions. It is a large sedan with rounded lines. At the front, there is quite a big difference between the two variants, with the all-electric version having a fully enclosed front face that has more of a curve to it and almost Tesla-like lines. On the other hand, the PHEV has a continuous light strip going across the front of the car and a slender grille below this. Both versions have an air intake at the bottom of the fender, however on the PHEV this is both thicker and more pronounced.

EV version
There appears to be very little in the way of options for the Baojun Yunguang. The PHEV has a choice of two different wheel designs, whereas the EV gains a third. Both offer a choice between 18 or 19-inch wheels. At the sides, the car has concealed door handles and chrome trim around the windows. With a small window between the C and D pillars the cars should have reasonable visibility. The charging port is on the left side of the car, and for the PHEV, the fuel tank is on the right. Both cars share the same rear and feature a through light broken just by the Baojun badge, which is a stylized horse. There is a distinctive ducktail end to the tailgate.

Wheel options for the Baojun Yunguang, EV (left) PHEV (right)
Higher-spec versions will likely come with the panoramic roof, which the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) lists as an option in the listings. This picture clearly shows that the car comes with both an LCD instrument panel and a large central infotainment unit, with the infotainment unit mounted further forward.

Both the EV and PHEV share the same length and width of 5005 and 1900 mm, respectively, along with the 2900 mm wheelbase. However, the PHEV is slightly taller at 1505 mm versus 1490 mm for the EV. The car uses the new Tianyu D platform, which debuted earlier this year in a smaller form with the Baojun Yep Plus car. The weight for the PHEV is 1840 kg, while the EV is slightly heavier at 1870 kg.

The PHEV uses an LBT 1.5-liter engine with a maximum power of 105 kW, which is sourced from Liuzhou Saike Technology Development Co., Ltd. The PHEV has a maximum speed of 190 km/h, and currently, there is no information about the electric motor. The all-electric version uses a TZ210XS2J6 186 kW electric motor and gives the car a top speed of 170 km/h. Both versions use lithium iron phosphate batteries with those for the PHEV from Gotion and for the EV sourced from Zenergy. As yet, there is no news on the battery pack capacities.

Human Horizons, the parent company of luxury EV brand HiPhi, has entered the pre-reorganization phase after filing for bankruptcy, marking a critical moment in China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sector. The company, struggling financially, halted production nearly six months ago.

The Yancheng Economic and Technological Development Zone People’s Court accepted the pre-reorganization application on August 8, 2024. The court’s decision, which cited Human Horizons’ inability to cover its debts exceeding its assets as of April 30, 2024, acknowledged the company’s insolvency but noted its potential for restructuring.

During the six-month pre-reorganization period, which can be extended by three months if necessary, Human Horizons must cooperate with administrators to safeguard assets, manage operations prudently, and attract strategic investors. This period is seen as a last-ditch effort to avoid complete bankruptcy through a new court-supervised rescue mechanism, which aims to reduce restructuring costs and revive valuable but troubled enterprises.

HiPhi had suspended operations in February 2024, promising to pay employees’ salaries up to February 18. However, by mid-March, only basic wages were being disbursed. Despite these efforts, the company has struggled to recover, signaling potential turbulence in the domestic NEV market.

In May 2024, iAuto Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Human Horizons, committing 1 billion USD in funding to rebuild the team and resume production. However, concerns have arisen over iAuto’s financial stability and whether the promised funds will materialize. Similar uncertainties have plagued previous potential investments, such as those from Saudi Arabia.

Founded in 2017, Human Horizons quickly positioned HiPhi as a luxury EV brand, with its first model, HiPhi X, launched in 2020. Despite this, the brand has struggled with sales and operational challenges. Introducing the more affordable HiPhi Y in 2023 temporarily boosted sales but needed more to stabilize the company.

Rumors of Changan Automobile and FAW Group acquisitions have surfaced, with FAW reportedly conducting due diligence on HiPhi. However, the future of HiPhi remains uncertain as it navigates this critical restructuring phase.

The Denza Z9 GT will open pre-sales on August 20. This will be the first of around 10 new cars from BYD’s premium brands Denza, Fang Cheng Bao, and Yangwang, due over the next year or so.

Denza

For the Denza brand alone, there will be 5 new models. Back in 2023, Denza announced a plan to launch eight new cars in three years. So far, the N5, N8, and D9 are on sale. These will be joined initially by the Z9 GT, sales of which should begin in September. It is positioned as a D-class intelligent luxury flagship GT and has dimensions of 5180, 1990, and 1480 mm, and the wheelbase is 3125 mm. The car has already begun shipping to showrooms in anticipation of pre-sales starting on August 20.

Joining the Z9 GT in the Denza range before the year is out will be the new N9 flagship SUV. Spy shots already tell us that the interior of the N9 should be quite similar to that of the Z9 GT. It’s expected the car will have a 3-screen design and a crystal drive selector knob. The car will have a 2 + 2 + 3 seating layout, with the second row having independent seats. Zhao Changjiang, general manager and chief co-creation officer of Denza Auto has said that the real car is more elegant and domineering than renderings that have recently appeared on the Internet for the N9.

Renderings of the Denza N9 from Ramen Master along with spy shots of the car
Two new sedans and an MPV will be available before the end of 2025. The larger sedan is being benchmarked against the Mercedes Benz S-class, while the smaller one is being benchmarked against the Mercedes Benz E-class. Meanwhile, the new MPV will fill a higher position than the current Denza D9 and is believed to be priced in the 500,000 to 600,000 yuan (69,700 – 83,600 USD) range.

Zhao Changjiang has said the Denza range will cover the price range from 250,000 to one million yuan (34,850 – 139,350 USD) and, in terms of products, will cover sedans, SUVs, and MPVs with a focus on large-size models. Specific price range points are 300,000 (41,800 USD), 400,000 (55,750 USD), 500,000 (69,700 USD) and 600,000 yuan (83,600 USD). Cars will have an emphasis on ultra-high stability and safety, with models being able to do the moose test at close to 90 km/h. They will be fitted with the new Eye of the Gods high-end intelligent driving system, allowing features such as urban NOA. Furthermore, they will come with BYD’s second-generation blade battery technology, allowing ranges of more than 1000 km.

Fang Cheng Bao

Currently, the Fang Cheng Bao brand has only one model on sale, the Bao 5. This is a body-on-frame SUV. Xiong Tianbo, the brand’s GM, has made it clear that the brand’s future products will not be limited to non-load bearing SUVs due to it being too much of a niche market, and that products in the future will include a sedan line as well as the forthcoming sports car line. Fang Cheng Bao will feature a 2 + X product line portfolio, with the two representing the off-road line and sports car line while the X is for more personalized products, including urban SUVs and sedan lines.

Fang Cheng Bao DMO platform
The brand’s next model will be the Bao 8, which will launch within the next few months. This will very much follow on from the Bao 5 (see specs) and is also a body-on-frame SUV using the DMO super hybrid off road platform. It will feature BYD‘s new Eye of the Gods advanced intelligent driving system and will have the DiSus-P active hydraulic suspension. With dimensions of 5195, 1994, and 1905 mm with a wheelbase of 2920 mm the Bao 8 adopts a 2 + 2 + 3 seating layout. It uses a PHEV system based around a 2.0T engine with 200 kW of power. Dual electric motors give a total power of 500 kW.

Following on from this model will be the Bao 3, which should be unveiled around the end of this year. Unlike the other two SUVs, this car has a load-bearing structure and so will have limited off-road capability. Before the recent price cuts to the Bao 5 it was expected that the Bao 3’s prices would start from 220,000 yuan (30,650 USD) but this may now drop. It looks far more like an urban SUV than the Bao 5 and Bao 8 and has a relatively compact size at 4605, 1900, and 1720 mm with a wheelbase of 2745 mm. It is a pure electric car with a maximum power of 310 kW and a battery capacity of 78.72 kWh, giving a CLTC electric range of 510 km.

Finally, for Fang Cheng Bao, there is the Bao 9 sports car, which currently has no timeline. A concept two-seat roadster based on a classic racer was shown earlier this year. Although the concept likely gives us some idea of what the future car will look like, the production version will almost certainly have a more conventional look.

Yangwang

Of BYD’s three more premium brands, Yangwang is the highest positioned. Sales in 2024 of the Yangwang U8 SUV have, up until the end of July, reached 7940 cars. Deliveries of the brand’s second model, the U9 sports car, are due to begin later this month. Joining these two models, on sale soon, should be the Yangwang U7 sedan. The car has already made its way to showrooms and it is expected to launch within the third quarter. It measures (see specs) in at 5265, 1998 and 1517 mm while the wheelbase is 3160 mm. Despite such large dimensions, the car has a turning radius of 4.85 meters, which is smaller than that of a BYD Seagull thanks to four-wheel steering. Further cementing its credibility is an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.195.

A wagon version of the U7 will follow, and it has been spied testing. Shots show a mule using a Denza Z9 GT body, but clearly, the interior is that of a Yangwang. The new car is unlikely to launch until 2025, and its dimensions should be similar to those of the U7 sedan.
