Earlier this year, Honda announced that it would launch the China-only Ye range of EVs. At the event, Honda showed two near-production-ready cars, the S7 and P7, along with the Ye GT concept. Despite both the Ye S7 and P7 supposedly due to go on sale this year, so far, we have heard a lot more about the S7 from Honda’s Joint venture partner, Dongfeng. And it may well be the case that this car will go on sale before the P7 from GAC.

In the latest information about the Ye S7, we learn from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s “Catalogue of New Energy Vehicle Models Exempt from Vehicle Purchase Tax (Eighth Batch)” about both the range and the battery.

Maximum range of the Ye S7 is 620 km using the CLTC Cycle. This comes courtesy of an 89.8 kWh ternary lithium battery supplied by CATL. The car uses a dual-motor 4-wheel drive system with the front motor producing a maximum power of 150 kW and the rear 200 kW. Top speed is 180 km/h.

The Honda Ye S7 measures 4750, 1930, and 1625 mm (l/w/h), while the wheelbase is 2930 mm. Unusually, the MIIT listing last month for the car consisted of only one version, which weighs 2305 kg and uses 21-inch wheels. The car is a medium-sized pure electric SUV based on the brand’s new W architecture.

Thanks to its sharp lines and through lights, both front and rear, which are based around the letter H, the car has a quite distinctive look. It should be noted that the car also gains a new Honda brand logo. Noticeable high-end features include side view cameras rather than mirrors, however, the car does not seem to feature Lidar. According to the MIIT listing, there is an option for a dual-tone body color version. In black, the car looks quite menacing, whereas a white dual-tone version in the MIIT listing looks a lot mellower. Both the fast and slow charging ports are located in the front fender.

Although no official shot has yet emerged of the interior of the Honda Ye S7, we can assume that pictures taken of the car at the Beijing Auto Show should be fairly representative of the production version. These show a three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel along with an LCD instrument screen panel, which is located deep into the dashboard near the windshield. A large centrally mounted entertainment screen is divided into two parts with the lower part dedicated to climate and seat controls, The upper part covers the usual entertainment screen functions. Other known equipment includes a panoramic roof, a Bose sound system, and wireless phone charging.

The car is expected to be positioned above Dongfeng Honda e:NS1, which has a price range of 175,000-218,000 yuan (24,500 – 30,500 USD). Therefore, we can expect the starting price for the Honda Ye S7 to be at least 200,000 yuan (27,950 USD), and the car will compete with cars such as the Tesla Model Y and Nio ES6.

Dongfeng Motors announced on August 6 that the first extended-range EV versions of the eπ 007 had rolled off the assembly line at the Wuhan No. 2 Plant of Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Manufacturing Headquarters. The EREV version of the car will officially launch on August 9, and deliveries will commence at the same time.

The Dongfeng sedan in all-electric form launched in March and is priced 159,600-199,600 yuan (22,300 – 27,900 USD). Currently, only the price of the eπ 007 200 Pro version of the extended-range version is known, and according to previous announcements, it is 159,600 yuan (22,300 USD). Prices are unlikely to rise much further for the EREV version, and the top-spec car will be significantly less than that of the all-electric version.

Compared to the all-electric eπ 007, changes to the EREV are centered around the powertrain and NVH. A 1.5-liter engine with a thermal efficiency of 43.5% provides range extension. The all-electric range is up to 200 km using CLTC, while energy conversion from the engine is up to 3.55 kWh/l.

Comprehensive range is 1200 km and fuel consumption is 4.2 l/100 km, presumably, this is under WLTC conditions. The Dongfeng eπ 007 has an intelligent range extension control system that takes into account factors such as the state of charge (SOC) and the speed of the car. Maximum feed speed is 145 km/h and Dongfeng claims the car can still achieve strong acceleration in the feed state and is not subject to problems such as stalling or inability to accelerate. Dongfeng says feed output power is increased by 20-40kW compared to cars of a similar price point.

Electric power comes via a 160 kW motor with 310 Nm of torque. Acceleration time is 7.2 seconds for 0-100 km/h. The EREV version of the Dongfeng eπ 007 has a 28.39 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack.

When idle, the noise of power generation is 38 decibels, and the activation of the range extender leads to just a 1 decibel increase in sound. When accelerating hard while in the feeding state, the increase in noise is kept to 3 decibels.

The Dongfeng eπ 007 (see specs) adopts the sports sedan style first popularized in China by the Xpeng P7. It measures 4880, 1895, 1460 mm (l/w/h) and has a wheelbase of 2915 mm. The drag coefficient is Cd 0.209.

Inside, the car follows the same look as the EV version, with a two-spoke steering wheel and the generally standard two-screen setup. However, unusually, the 8.8-inch LCD instrument panel flips out. Infotainment is displayed on the 15.6-inch centrally mounted screen, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.

The eπ brand opened 310 new stores in the first half of this year and plans to open a total of 500 in 2024.

Additionally, it supports comprehensive autonomous driving functions and auto parking. Aito and Luxeed models under the HIMA umbrella will receive ADS 3.0 update starting in September.

The Stelato S9, a collaboration between Huawei and BAIC, sets a new standard in luxury electric vehicles. Leveraging Huawei’s tech prowess and BAIC’s manufacturing expertise, the S9 stands out in the luxury electric sedan market with its aggressive pricing, features, and performance. Huawei’s Aito brand, another HIMA venture, delivered 181,197 vehicles in the first half of 2024, leading Chinese NEV startups with the top-selling Aito M9 SUV. Building on this success, Stelato aims to capture the luxury EV market by selling 120,000 units of the S9 annually.

On August 5, Lynk & Co announced that its 2025 Lynk & Co 08 EM-P plug-in hybrid SUV will launch on August 8 in China. So far, the official has revealed some details about the vehicle configuration upgrade, including the addition of sentinel mode, rhythmic ambient lights, water ingress monitoring, and mobile phone NFC key.

The Lynk & Co 08 EM-P (see spec here), positioned as a medium-sized SUV, was first launched in September 2023. For reference, the current Lynk & Co 08 EM-P on sale has six trims offering CLTC cruising ranges of 120 km, 220 km, and 245 km, with a price range of 195,800 – 288,000 yuan (27,500 – 40,400 USD). The comprehensive range is 1,200 km.

Current Lynk & Co 08 EM-P on sale2025 Lynk & Co 08 EM-P official image
From the official image, the appearance of the 2025 Lynk & Co 08 EM-P is consistent with that of the current model, adopting a black and forest green two-tone body, the “Dawn Light” daytime running lights, aluminum alloy rims, and hidden door handles. Additionally, a new white paint is expected to be added and the body size is not expected to change (4820/1915/1685 mm, and a wheelbase of 2848 mm).

The interior is expected to also remain largely the same, with mainly configuration updates. Referring to the current model, the cockpit features a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 15.4-inch floating center control screen, and a HUD, coupled with the Flyme Auto cockpit system, powered by two Dragon Eagle-1 automotive-grade 7-nanometer cockpit chips.

The Voyah Zhiyin debuted on August 5. Four versions of the car are available, but prices have yet to be revealed. It is the first Voyah model to be designed as a world car and underlines the brand’s desire to enter more markets overseas.

Only available as an EV, the Voyah Zhiyin is based on Dongfeng’s Electric Smart Secure Architecture (ESSA) and will be equipped with a new generation of the “Lanhai Power-BEV”. It is the fourth model of the Voyah brand and continues with the family-style design. Notably, there are through-type lights both front and rear. At the front, these integrate with the Voyah logo.

Strangely, the rear wheels have black outlining around them, whereas the front wheels do not. There is also a noticeable shark fin-like element cutting into the D-pillar. The Zhiyin has a blackened roof above the window line and also has a roof rack. At the rear is quite a large skid plate, but equally, the tailgate appears to be quite high.

The Voyah Zhiyin measures in at 4725, 1900, and 1636 mm and its wheelbase is 2900 mm. Curb weights for the versions are 2099, 2145, and 2227 kg.

At first glance inside it may appear that there is only a large dashboard-mounted entertainment screen for information. However, there remains a small instrument panel embedded around the air vents and there is a head-up display. The Zhiyin has frameless doors and features large amounts of leather. It is believed that the car comes equipped with Huawei’s smart cockpit and smart driving system.

Both single and dual-motor versions of the car are available. Rear wheel drive versions have a choice of 215 or 230 kW electric motors. Equipped with a 77 kWh battery, the single motor version has a range of 625 km and, in the long-range version, 901 km, thanks to a 109 kWh battery pack. With the dual-motor version, it uses a 160 kW electric motor on both the front and rear axles. It is equipped with the 77 kWh battery pack, giving a range of 570 km – all ranges are using CLTC. The Voyah Zhiyin uses an 800V architecture platform and comes with 5C charging capability. This means the car can, in 15 minutes, add 515 km of range. Presumably, this is for cars with larger battery packs.

The new car is an essential part of the Let’s Voyah strategy, which aims to see the brand on sale in 60 countries across six continents with annual sales of 500,000 by 2030. It is also the brand’s first more conventional-looking SUV. Deliveries should begin before the end of the year in China.

Last month’s MIIT listings took us by surprise with the MG S5. The car was previously unknown and shows a new compact all-electric SUV from the brand, which is likely to launch in the Chinese market soon. Spy shots have just emerged of the car testing in the Czech Republic indicating that this car is likely destined for the European market.

Dutch car magazine AutoWeek published pictures taken by reader Henri van Middendorp of the car charging in the Czech Republic. When the S5 was listed last month, we said that it would almost certainly make its way to Europe, and the spy shot gives evidence to back this up.

The MG S5 is likely the successor to the MG ZS, which has been in production since 2017. Although AutoWeek claims that the car will fit between the MG ZS and the Marvel R models size-wise, we are not so convinced. The MG ZS was not designed from scratch as an EV and is merely a conversion of an ICE car. Given this and the model’s advancing years, we believe the S5 should be seen as the replacement for at least the electric version of the car.

According to the MIIT listing information released last month, we know the car has dimensions of 4476, 1849, and 1621 mm (l/w/h), and the wheelbase is 2730 mm – it should be noted that the MG ZS has a length of 4323 mm. The S5 is powered by a rear axle-mounted 125 kW TZ180XS0951 electric motor sourced from United Automotive Electronics. This is the same motor used in the single-motor version of the MG 4 (Mulan), and there is almost certainly quite a strong relationship between the two models. The MG S5 is likely based on the same platform and may well even have the same sized battery packs as the MG 4 (see specs), which currently offers a choice from 51 and 64 kWh. The car will use lithium iron phosphate battery packs assembled by SAIC’s venture with CATL. There are two MIIT listings for the MG S5, with the presumably lower spec version weighing 1615 kg and the heavier higher spec version being either 1685 or 1740 kg, depending on equipment level. Top speed is 170 KMH.

The MG S5 is available with 17- and 18-inch wheels. Options include a panoramic roof and various wheel and mirror options. We can see from the interior spy shot that the MG S5 has a similar layout to the MG 4. There is a small LCD instrument panel, a dashboard-mounted infotainment unit, and a squared steering wheel.

At the front, the MG S5 has a classic X shape with slender headlights and a lower air intake. The bottom has a split grille design similar to that of the MG Cyberster. A wave-like line starts on the front wing and makes its way to the rear of the car. At the rear, there is a through-type tail light and a generally clean look.

Chinese sales should begin before the end of the year. It is likely that the car will need to have a different name for sales in Europe, where the S5 badge would probably cause problems with Audi. In Europe, the car might well inherit the ZS name if the car is indeed an EV replacement for the first-generation SUV.

The BYD Seal 05 DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan was exposed in new photos and unofficial render images. It is a facelift of the Chaser 05 (Destroyer 05 / Chazor / King DM-i) model. The Seal 05 DM-i will enter the market in late 2024 or early 2025.

BYD Seal DM-i spy photos

BYD Seal 05 DM-i
The BYD Seal DM-i was once again seen in China during road tests. Its front end adopts triangular-shaped LED headlights similar to the previously launched Seal 06 (see specs). We can distinguish the Seal 05 DM-i by a continuous chrome-plated bar under the headlights. This element is usually common for BYD Dynasty series models.

BYD Seal 06
A sizeable trapeze-shaped air intake sits in the front bumper. The Seal 05 DM-i has a sloped bonnet, flush door handles, and conventional side-view mirrors. From the back, the Seal 05 DM-i adopts a single taillight unit that aligns with the BYD Seal 06. It is easy to confuse the Seal 05 DM-i with a liftback due to a sleek roofline. However, it is a sedan with an independent trunk.

BYD Seal 05 DM-i
Similar to the latest BYD-branded cars, the Seal 05 DM-i has a BYD badge in the rear end instead of an odd “build your dreams” inscription. The new sedan also has a front camera and a mm-wave radar. Its rear bumper stays in line with the Chaser 05.

Unofficial render images of the BYD Seal 05 DM-i prepared by Ou Pao Pao
Chinese designer Ou Pao Pao has prepared some render images of the BYD Seal 05 DM-i. We can see those pictures aren’t quite accurate. But they still can give us an idea of what the new sedan could look like.

BYD Seal 05 DM-i specs

BYD Seal 05 DM-i
The exact dimensions of the Seal 05 DM-i have yet to be revealed. However, it is a facelift of a well-known Chaser 05 sedan (see specs) with length, width, and height of 4780/1837/1495 mm with a wheelbase of 2718 mm. Most likely, the Seal-badged model will retain those dimensions.

BYD Seal 05 DM-i spotted in China
The BYD Seal 05 DM-i will adopt the BYD’s fifth-gen DM powertrain. It comprises a 1.5-liter ICE for 74 kW (99 hp) and a 120 kW (161 km) e-motor. The Seal 05 DM-i will get a larger fuel tank for 65 liters. The more efficient powertrain system and a bigger fuel tank will increase the mixed range of up to 2,100 km.

The Seal 05 DM-i will enter the Chinese market in late 2024 or early 2025, Its price range will lie in the 80,000 – 140,000 yuan (11,250 – 19,700 USD) range.

New spy shots have emerged of BYD’s new MPV, which Chinese media believe is called Zhou, although it should also be noted that this car may be called the Tang Max. The spy shots show that the car is considerably more complete than when it was seen in May this year. It’s claimed that the BYD Zhou will launch very soon. We will have to see at the time whether it is really called Zhou or Tang Max, as previous badges suggested.

Previously, it was speculated that the car shared its platform with the Denza D9 MPV. The BYD Zhou seems to be over five meters long with a wheelbase of more than three meters, and it’s expected to be a seven-seater. It will be the largest MPV under the BYD brand to date and will be cheaper than the Denza D9.

Though still quite heavily camouflaged, we can clearly make out the silhouette. From the front, there is an imposing grille. The sides have sliding doors on both sides and there is little angle down to the back. Fast Technology claims that the tail lights are slender, but this is really quite difficult to make out, and it is possible that the car, in fact, has a through light.

As part of the dynasty series, the car will likely have an imposing appearance and liberal use of chrome highlighting.

If the car really is to go on sale as soon as Chinese media seems to believe it will, then we should expect to see it appear in the MIIT list later this month or next month at the latest.

Previous information suggested that the Zhou would, at launch, only come as a PHEV. This will almost certainly mean a version of the BYD’s DM 5.0 technology. Given the size of the car, it will likely use the version based around the 1.5T engine as used on the Han DM-i and the more powerful version of the Seal 07 DM-i. The BYD472ZQB engine has a maximum power of 115 kW. In the case of the Han DM-i, this is then matched with a 200 kW peak power TZ210XYD electric motor, and the Zhou may well also use this electric motor.

Chinese sources speculate that the new model may be released in Baoji, Shaanxi province, the birthplace of the Zhou Dynasty. The Zhou Dynasty had the longest reign in Imperial China and ruled parts of the country for nearly 800 years until 256 BC. It should be noted that BYD has considerable connection to Shaanxi province despite being headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong province. BYD obtained its car-producing license by taking over a producer based in Xian, the provincial capital of Shaanxi.

Prices of the PHEV version of the Denza D9 (see specs) start at 324,800 yuan (44,850 USD) so we should expect starting prices for the BYD Zhou to come in considerably lower, and maybe around 250,000 yuan (35,050 USD).

Original plans called for releasing four all-electric Li Auto cars this year. Only one of these, the Li Mega, has launched. The other three, all SUVs, have been delayed until next year. Believed to be called M7, M8, and M9, all three have been snapped together for the first time. The spy shots are from the rear, but we can still get some idea of the differences between the three models.

The spy shots show the three cars exiting a facility onto the road. Fast Technology claims it looks like Turpan in Xinjiang province. This would mean the cars are there for hot weather testing.

What’s not clear is whether the cars are actually in size order. However, it definitely looks like the rear car is the smallest, and so it’s likely the M7. Meanwhile, the lead car is the same vehicle as in an official shot from Ben Baum, senior design director of Li Auto, last month. This, at the time, was believed to be the M8 model. However, from the spy shots, it is unclear whether the middle or the lead car is, in fact, larger. We’re inclined to believe the car previously believed to be the M8 is actually the M9.

And if the model lineup does indeed go this way, it seems that as the numbers go up, the car looks increasingly more like the Mega. The M7 seems significantly smaller than the other two cars and clearly has a roofline that rakes down to the back at a much steeper angle, resulting in a significantly smaller rear windshield. With the Li Auto L series of extended-range EVs, there is little difference other than size in the looks of the four models. This doesn’t appear to be the case with the M series, where there seems to be more variation. From the spy shots, the rear lights look different, although this could possibly just be due to the camouflaging. What we can be more certain about is that the rear contours are definitely different.

The Li Mega (see specs) for an MPV has an amazingly low drag coefficient of Cd 0.215. It is likely that the new SUVs will also be similarly slippery, thereby helping with range.

Officially, the reason for the delay in the launch of the three SUVs has been that Li Auto wanted to delay them until the supercharging network was complete so that customers could have a better charging experience. Like the Li Mega, the three new SUVs are believed to have 5C charging capability. In the case of the Li Mega this means the car can charge from 10 to 80% in 10 minutes and 36 seconds with a 5C charger.

Currently, Li Auto has more than 700 supercharging stations with a total of more than 3260 actual chargers. Plans call for the building of more than 2000 stations by the end of the year.

Another reason Li gave for the delay was that stores supposedly need multiple models to occupy space. This seems a rather strange reason given that the L series already exists, and so does the Mega. More likely, the reason is the Mega and the poor sales it has so far experienced, which are well below what the company expected.

The Changan UNI-Z plug-in hybrid variant was launched on March 28 this year. Recently, Changan released the official images of its UNI-Z 1.5T gasoline-powered variant and announced that the launch will be on August 10. For reference, the plug-in hybrid variant has a price range of 117,900 – 131,900 yuan (16,500 – 18,400 USD).

For the exterior, the gasoline-powered variant is not much different from the existing plug-in hybrid variant. The major difference between the two is that the gasoline-powered variant uses dual-pair exhaust outlets. The front face retains the inverted trapezoidal grille and the Changan V logo.

From the side, the body uses traditional door handles and the roof has a floating effect due to the blackened C-pillar. The car runs on 19-inch multi-spoke aluminum alloy rims. An openable panoramic sunroof and an electric tailgate continue to be present. Furthermore, the size is expected to remain consistent with dimensions of 4730/1890/1680 mm, and a 2795 mm wheelbase, positioned as a compact SUV.

Power comes from a Blue Whale NE1.5T engine, with a maximum power of 138 kW (185 hp) and a peak torque of 300 Nm, mated to a 7-speed DCT.

Inside, the interior continues the design layout of the plug-in hybrid variant, with a standard 10.25-inch rectangular LCD instrument panel, a 14.6-inch central touch screen, a flat-bottomed D-shaped steering wheel, and a yacht-style gear lever.

Depending on the trims, other configurations include full-speed adaptive cruise control, facial recognition, mobile phone Bluetooth key, a built-in driving recorder, imitation leather-covered seats, front seat ventilation/heating, front multi-layer soundproof glass, 4G network, voice interaction, rear air conditioning vents, mobile phone remote control, sentry mode, driver seat lumbar support, and eight Sony speakers, to name a few.

In June, 8,990 units of the Changan UNI-Z were sold, a month-on-month increase of 10.1%. From January to June 2024, the cumulative sales of the Changan UNI-Z were 23,206 units.

Recently, Great Wall Motor (GWM) announced that its Tank 300 has been officially launched in Malaysia, and plans to launch the first CKD (Complete Knock-Down) project in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region locally. The imported Tank 300 model has a 250,000 MYR (55,700 USD) price tag, according to the local media.

CDK means the vehicle components are delivered from various suppliers and assembled at the destination. Earlier on January 8 this year, GWM announced that it had signed a CKD assembly cooperation agreement with EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB), a manufacturing group in Malaysia. According to the strategic cooperation agreement between the two parties, EPMB will locally assemble and produce GWM’s electric vehicles, as well as its SUV and other models.

Currently, there are three trims of the Tank 300 available on the market in China with a price range of 199,800 – 226,800 yuan (27,900 – 32,000 USD). Positioned as an off-road SUV, the size of the car measures 4760/1930/1903 mm with a 2750 mm wheelbase and a minimum ground clearance of 224 mm. Its approach and departure angles are 33° and 34°, respectively; and the towing capacity is 2,000 kg. Two power options are available:

  • an engine model E20NA that outputs 180 kW (241 hp)/380 Nm, mated to a 9AT; also comes with a 48V mild hybrid system; 9.81L/100km WLTC comprehensive fuel consumption
In July, GWM sold 91,285 new vehicles, and the cumulative sales from January to July reached 650,954 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%; with 156,519 new energy vehicles sold, a year-on-year increase of 28.14%. At the same time, GWM sold 239,685 vehicles overseas from January to July, a year-on-year increase of 58.8%. Furthermore, the Tank brand sold 18,682 vehicles in July, a year-on-year increase of 38.49%. The brand’s cumulative sales for the first seven months were 134,720 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 87.59%.

As part of its “New Four Modernizations” strategy, GWM targets to achieve overseas sales of more than one million vehicles by 2030, with high-end models accounting for more than one-third of sales.

Nio‘s second brand, Onvo, announced its commitment to completing more than 300 battery-swapping stations monthly, ensuring Onvo vehicle owners have access to over 1,000 stations by the end of the year. Note that Onvo L60 only works with Nio’s fourth-generation swap stations. Therefore, this initiative will include building new fourth-generation swap stations and modifying existing third-generation stations to fit Onvo’s needs. The battery-swapping network will cover highways across nine vertical and nine horizontal routes and 19 major urban areas. This plan will provide Onvo owners with battery swapping and energy replenishment resources.

Onvo also launched the ‘Onvo battery swapping wishlist, ‘ a campaign to involve Onvo app users in its expansion plans. This campaign will run until September 3rd. During this period, each Onvo app user can select three preferred locations for new battery-swapping stations on the map. The collected data will influence future swapping station deployments.

Onvo CEO Ai Tiecheng previously announced the highly anticipated launch of the Onvo L60 will be in late September. The Onvo L60 SUV is Onvo’s first car. It is set to roll off the production line by the end of the month. Deliveries and test drives will be available on the launch event day.

The Onvo L60 series will be built on a 900V silicon carbide platform, adopting the BaaS (Battery as a Service) leasing scheme. The Nio Onvo L60, featuring a 60 kWh (or, more accurately, 61 kWh) battery pack, offers a CLTC range of either 555 km or 525 km in the single-motor configuration. In the dual-motor version, the range is either 525 km or 501 km. This range variation is attributed to the different wheel sizes available for the L60, which comes with either 19-inch or 20-inch wheels.

Nio realized early on that more than the Nio brand alone would be needed for market expansion, prompting partnerships with GAC and Changan, which ultimately failed due to financial issues. Onvo is Nio’s latest attempt to penetrate the mass market. CEO William Li has high hopes for Onvo’s first car, the L60, which features battery swapping compatible with Nio’s fourth-generation swap stations and modified third-generation stations.

As of July 31, Nio had 820 highway power swap stations in China, delivering over 49.6 million battery swaps, 44.11 million charging services, and 259,690 flexible battery upgrades.

Battery swapping is crucial for Nio, offering quick refueling and avoiding battery degradation. Each station costs 3 million yuan (USD 419,000), adding to Nio’s 76.4 billion yuan (USD 10.67 billion) debt. Nio needs 60 swaps daily to break even. Despite this, 54.14% of Nio drivers prefer swap stations.

Editor’s Comment:

After careful investigation, our CNC team found that Onvo’s recent announcement about the 1,000 swapping stations contradicts our previous brand information. We now believe these stations should be operated under Nio instead of Onvo. Onvo cars will have “access” to these swapping stations.

Recently, both Geely and the Chinese MIIT released more information about the Geely Xingyuan EV. The alternative names of the car might be called “Paipai” or “Totoro” based on the car’s tail label. Once launched (likely in August), it will compete directly with models such as the BYD Dolphin (see spec here).

Just a few days ago, the Geely Xingyuan was spotted undergoing high-temperature testing in Turpan, in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region.

The new car has already been declared by the Chinese MIIT on July 10th. It adopts a smooth overall shape with a cute appearance, available in a two-tone or single-tone body, and a length, width, and height of 4135/1805/1570 mm as well as a wheelbase of 2650 mm. For reference, the length, width, and height of the BYD Dolphin are 4125/1770/1570 mm, and the wheelbase is 2700 mm.

In addition, consumers will be able to choose from nine rim styles, including a variety of four-spoke, five-spoke, and six-spoke designs. The curb weights are 1215 kg and 1285 kg.

The front face adopts a closed grille that is common in electric vehicles and features triangular headlights, which echo the taillights. Optional radar and camera will also be available. The interior can seat five people as the standard.

Furthermore, the Geely Xingyuan will come with independent suspension as standard for the entire series, an 11-in-1 smart electric drive, and the Flyme Auto smart cockpit system, according to the automaker. Power will come from either a 58 kW (78 hp) or 85 kW (114 hp) electric motor, paired with 30.12 or 40.16 kWh battery packs (either Geely’s self-developed and self-produced Aegis battery or supplied by CATL), providing a CLTC cruising range of 310 km or 410 km, according to more details released by the Chinese MIIT. The top speed is 135 km/h and the approach/departure angles are both 19°.

Lastly, regarding the price tag, there are speculations on the Internet that the starting price of the Geely Xingyuan might be around 80,000 yuan (11,000 USD).
