Tesla Model Y sales in China hits 48,202 in Sept, highest year to date
Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y crossover saw another strong month of sales in China last month, despite facing a growing number of local challengers.
Retail sales of the Model Y in China in September were 48,202 units, the highest for a single month so far this year, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) shared by local automotive media outlet Yiche.
That's up 6.34 percent from 45,330 units in August and up 16.35 percent from 41,428 units in the same month last year.
Tesla sold
72,200 vehicles in China in September, surpassing August's 63,456 to set a new yearly high, CnEVPost noted in an October 12 report.
The Model Y contributed 66.76 percent of Tesla's retail sales in China in September, CnEVPost's calculations show.
In the January-September period, Model Y retail sales in China were 337,648 units, up 5.48 percent year-on-year, contributing 73.37 percent of Tesla's 460,200 sales in China in the same period.
