Silk road is for nostalgia. Modern day commerce takes place on large container ships (for low value items), transport aircraft (for high value items) and on fiber optic cables (for highest value items - pure knowledge). Pining for Silk Road is like dreaming of horse drawn stagecoaches and camel caravans.

They can help protect the Trade hub
If a trade duty free Hub can be made which transports between Gawadar and Chabahar , via Rail

For helping protect Trade zone, parking 4 Destroyers (30+ VLS X 4) near Gwadar Should be ok, Patrolling between Pakistan's Gwadar and Iran's Chabahar region

However responsibility of whole Balochistan is responsibility of Local Pakistan Army and Local Law enforcement [LAND OPERATION]

Drones from China would be welcomed to patrol the Border zone between Iran/Pakistan as far as possible with 24/7 monitoring
Also it will reduce the negative incidents between Iran-Pakistan border as both parties want to work with China

China can also help setup a Currency exchange also at border with Iran trading in Yuan (No objection , it will help traders on both side of border)


Don't see problem if the relation is specifically to help aid in protection of trade route, a 15 year agreement till our 6 Jinnah Class Frigates are ready

Oh ok, so there are large sets ppl in Pakistan who are happy to get sponsored and hate the Chinese enough to cause trouble

There are enough people that want to earn a buck and aren’t being provided alternative nor being legally pursued viciously by the state, because of its own shenanigans.

Yep they have little confidence in the military to protect assets. Said it a while ago.

That’s the key. This offer of a joint force is a slap in the face of the PA.

For the sake of restoring the honor of the PA, besides the political mess they have to deal with properly, they should refuse this offer.

If Pakistan agrees, foreign forces will ramp up the funding to bog down the Chinese. Also Chinese troops would be killing Pakistani people. The blowback to the legitimacy of the state would be so severe, I’d rather not think of it.

The Chinese would be better off, equipping Pakistani troops with a supply of MRAPS and affordable transport helicopters to ferry Chinese workers and helping Pakistani build up enough of a local economy in restive areas to pacify the public in those areas especially. Call it a special grant, but don’t allow Chinese troops to operate on Pakistanis soil.

Once the Pakistani economy and optics are up and running, the states resources can take over providing services.

In the mean time, Chinese technical assistance can be provided to hunt down miscreants, such as Chinese SAR satellite data or drone data. SAR satellites can provide GMTI, and track movement of miscreants elements. Pakistani police and soldiers can then investigate and find out if the suspects are miscreants or regular civilians and act accordingly.

As for the navy base in Gwadar. It Should mirror the agreements made between India and the US.

I see the offer to Protect the Gwadar Trade route , as a Tremendous chance to safe guard Baluchistan

Pakistan Navy is going thru induction of 6 Jinnah class Frigates these will take about 8-15 years to fully become functional in Navy

For Pakistan Navy
So a 15 year pact would be great for Pakistan

a) If 4-5 Destroyers Chinese are at Gwadar region it will also ensure safety of Gulf Sea and our trade route

Pakistan Navy can focus on fully becoming functional with 6 Jinnah Class Frigates in those 15 year period.


For Pakistan Army

• Still Protecting border with Iran and Afghanistan as before
• More Drone based protection at Border with China's help
• Still playing vital role in security at border

Any trade happening between Iran-Pakistan will happen at a Duty Free Trade hub protected by China , and Currency of exchange can be (Yuan) which ever is customer is comfortable with


China has stakes in Afghanistan , Road, Canal , economic projects
China has stakes in Iran , oil and gas
China has stakes in Pakistan , Silk Route / Trader route

Of course they would wish peaceful solution to all countries they trade with

Either Gwadar should be handed over to Dubai or a consortium for development and management, or it should be shut down, per the World Bank report link I shared on this forum. It is not economically viable, and money should be spent on expanding Karachi and Port Qasim, along with its rail and road network.

The state should get out of this business as it lacks the necessary skill sets to manage this project properly.

China gave us $50 Billion , to complete various

• Dams
• Coal Mine Extraction Project
• Port
• Energy projects Power plants
• Solar plants (which we sold to someone from Government)
• Road network between KPK /Balochistan/Sindh/Punjab
• Economic Centers <To Come in future>

If Chinese are offering to protect the trade route , it is because Gwadar is important to them as well , just like it is important to Pakistan

Greater Security means , more trade , and more economic activity


As long as we have good understanding

• Protecting Sea route with Destroyer for 15 years
• With residential base at Port
• Helping secure the Port
• Help Pakistan Secure more Drones for Border Patrol 24/7

Pakistan Army Looks after whole Baluchistan / Border etc Big region
Pakistan Navy of course also is present for their own Duties for Sea Protection
