I think the postage costs are based on the costs in the source country. They will charge more for the same package coming from UK v/s Pakistan because people in UK pay more for all postage compared to people in Pakistan. So China needs to be put into a higher cost category.

Well, it wasn't the government that chase them down. Australia Post is not operated by the Government as opposed to USPS.

It used to be when you receive a parcel, if the declaration value of said parcel is over A$1000, then you are send a notice to collect the parcel and you will have to pay the excise duty before you can collect it from the Post Office, and if the sender claim the parcel is less than A$1000 but the Custom look at it (either by random inspection or targeted inspection) then you will need to pay a fine and the excise duty from the post office

Now it is paid on the declaration ends, say if I buy something from overseas, then they are required to pay the excise duty at post, that's why if I buy stuff from Ebay from the US or UK, they will add the GST in the final purchase amount.

I think postage are determined by zone. China (or Pakistan) are in a similar zone and UK and US are in similar Zone because of their geographical location and proximity from us.

Another issue is Chinese Government have a policy to subsidize China Post, which mean the postage they charge to Australia is almost certainly lower than any other country in the same Zone.

The issue here is not the postage tho, the issue here is the excise duty (at least this is what they say) because like Australia, US have a tax free threshold of anything under $800 is duty free. China can charge postage lower to post to US, that's up to them, but if this is going to be duty free, then it would have been unfair to the general merchandiser in the US because they (Shein et el) don't pay tax to the US for anything they had sold. While retail like Nordstrom or Macy did. So there are going to be an advantage from Chinese retailer if they exploit this duty free loophole.

There are two issues at play here. One being the duty-free loophole, the other being loophole which allows the shipper to consolidate a number of low-value shipments into a single container and still qualify for subsidized rates due to the volume and tender method. In essence, "junk mail" rates.

Well, put Chinese imports and American goods side by side in a shop and see what people want to buy.

I have seen people buying Midea heat pumps and air conditioners over ones from GE and Lennox. Neither GE nor Lennox have done any upgrade or R&D in over 30 years. They are still making units for MASSIVE homes which are no longer common in bigger cities. None of them make units for apartments very common now.

And funniest of all is when even those GE and Lennoxes are made in China.

Dude, you can love America and I admire you for wanting to protect the White heritage but you need to wake up and realise the reality of how far ahead China really is. If you don't knw your enemy, you can't beat them. China produces, low, mid and high end stuff, you pay the right price, you get the right stuff. Once you realise this, then you can counter us.
