China’s government is pressuring fast-fashion giant Shein to slow efforts to shift production out of the country, as Beijing seeks to curb an exodus of manufacturers triggered by new U.S. tariffs, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday citing people familiar with the matter.

The Ministry of Commerce has privately urged Shein and other firms to reconsider diversifying supply chains abroad, particularly ahead of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent announcement of sweeping “reciprocal tariffs,” the Bloomberg report stated.

As a result, Shein has reportedly suspended supplier visits to factories in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian nations. The move underscores China’s growing concerns over job losses and economic strain as exporters seek to bypass rising trade barriers, according to the report.

The government push also reflects a deepening divide between Beijing’s industrial policy and exporters facing pressure to cut costs amid fading tariff exemptions, Bloomberg reported.

For given price, yes they do give best quality.

It is not just economy of scale, much more complex industrial setup with enormous internal supply chain and ability to export to the globe each individual act will not disturb their overall economy.
They outpaced rest of the world in technology sophistication applied in consumer products and it will not go away with pressure by ancient instruments in from of tarrifs.

China taking a lead in ship building is a quite a recent development actually.

For decades it was European, Americans more recently Japenese and Koreans who use to build most of the world's ships.

The world will simply revert to its older ways..afterall where does it say that 90 percent of the global ship building orders need to filled by a single country.

Btw US is about to propose an another legislation, that all ships built in China or operated by a Chinese company will have to a pay an additional fee to visit any US port.
In order of $1.5 million per ship, per visit to any US port.

It was Americans who taught the Chinese on how build these things that American people like and so that they can buy them for Cheap.

Trumpy is trying to turn the clock back over 100 years ago when the USD wasn't reserve currency, the global trade order was mainly amongst western nations as they had colonised most of the world. In that time global trade via tarrifs was easier to implement, much simpler economic systems existed not supported by paper money but gold bullion.

The time now is much different, americas most valuable commodity is the USD, forcing countries to move manufacturing to the US means less USD in circulation, the irony of this could be a more proactive effort by large blocks to trade with their currencies than the USD.

Meanwhile trumpy will increase inflation and take the US into recession, all which I expected. Consequences will be a global recession however, this dufus will go down as single handily screwing everyone up.
