August 5, 2026: Concessional Loan Negotiations for the Karakoram Highway Stalled

News outlet: The Express Tribune

English headline: Govt reviews CPEC project options

Key points:

The Karakoram Highway realignment project is expected to require an investment of approximately US$1.8 billion.
The two sides had previously agreed in principle that China would provide about 85% of the financing.
Pakistan sought a concessional loan, but China proposed commercial financing terms.
As of August 5, 2026, the two sides had not signed a final loan agreement.
Pakistan began exploring the possibility of involving domestic companies in construction and even financing the project itself.

do you know what you're quoting? It's for normal trade not for defense deals in which Pakistan has a VERY SPECIAL STATUS FOR CHINA LOL
The same applies to the defense sector: China will no longer provide concessional loans. This is also why Pakistan has been unable to acquire additional J-10 fighter jets, and it appears that Pakistan will not be the first international customer for the J-35 either.

Various signs indicate that China would prefer Pakistan to seek financing on international markets rather than rely on Chinese banks.

YOU'RE NO BODY TO SAY THAT, AND WE ARE NOT IN A HURRY FOR ADDITIONAL J-10C (BECAUSE INDIA HAVE RELATIVELY FEW RAFALE 36) AND RECENLY PAKISTAN ORDER 20 MORE J-10C ACCORDING TO OUR MILTARY PRESS BRIFING (THERE IS A THREAD ON IT HERE ON PDF)

AND WE AREN'T IN A HURRY TO BUY J-35 THAT EARLY BECAUSE OUR ENEMY (INDIA) STILL NOT HAVE ANY 5TH GEN JET IN HIS ARSENAL

I'm not saying by myself, but our military is saying that is I'm saying PAF is going to have more J-10C sooner or later and what is surprised for JF-17 we have most capability (provided by China) to upgrade it at home

China is focusing its resources on sixth-generation fighter jets, so it is unclear whether it has sufficient capacity to devote to the JF-17.

Pakistan might be better off following the example of Türkiye and Russia by leasing office space or establishing a subsidiary in Shenzhen, allowing it to directly procure various chips and electro-optical components for upgrades.

What is you craping about, I don't understand, and you're (China) is nobody to dictate us what to do and where we get our equipment for our upgrades, you're acting like a 2 year toddler with no brain, and don't waste my time with your childish post, I'm out of here bye
