China preparing for 'protracted' war, says think tank

US N-subs use the most sophisticated nuclear reactors. The newest Virginia class SSNs for instance have reactors that use bomb-grade uranium (U-235 enriched to over 90 %). They are designed to operate for 33 years without refuelling.
Then why they didn't help their treaty bound ally South Vietnam? What's holding them back?

China has many connectivity options by sea, roads and railways, India doesn't

India doesn't need to rely on road connectivity..... we are 3 ocean county with vast 3 coastlines with large open water bodies that don't have China type island chains under enemies control that makes you technically a landlocked nation...... except USA and maybe UK and France no power on this planet can come to Indian Ocean, BoB and Arabian sea and enforce a complete blockade of India..... not even your biggest navy in this world.....

We have more options, China is the world biggest shipbuilder accounting for over half of the global shipbuilding capacity, you guys should worry, not China.

What is the use of biggest ship building capacity when during war you will not be allowed to even cross 1st island chain??

You boast about being biggest ships builder but then again find alternative routes from land, silk route, obor CPEC etc etc...... that's funny....

Why Indians are always more confident about US than Americans themselves? this common phenomenon really puzzles me.

I case of full scale war you will not be allowed..... peacetime minor incursions here and there nobody goes to war directly.....
When will that happen? does the Pentagon listen to you Indians?

That will happen..... just try annexing Taiwan.....
Lol, Will Americans listen to you? why didn't they help their treaty bound South Vietnam in 1974? What a funny name dropper.

Still you rely on oil and that has to come from other parts of world...... and China can be easily chocked here by USN...... if that happens all your Overseas military bases too will be helpless..... moreover all the countries under your debt trap too will be happy to see that China after this war will be in no condition to collect debt with interest or to take any port to operate......
China is self-sufficient in grain like 95% They imported soybean and Korn but that is mainly for animal feed. China produced 40% of its oil consumption. 20% are imported by pipeline and more are being built. So China is short 40% of its oil. But almost half of them are used for transportation. As China now feverishly produces more and more EVs for private cars, busses, and Hydrogen-fueled trucks that vulnerability is closing fast. China has a very large oil reserve in Xinjiang but it is not developed as it is costly. But in an emergency, they will be exploited

China has all the minerals and coal they need. They imported some from Australia but that is done for economic reasons as it is costly to haul coal from the northwest to the south But in an emergency it can be done because China has enough transportation capability.

Trying to blockade China is an impossibility as China can easily rain missiles and cruise missiles, hypersonic missiles from the mainland, and hit the ships. Not counting submarines and surface ships china has enough of it to overwhelm any foe Wait a couple more years when all those in outfitting will be in service

That's because ROC was weakened from fighting the Japanese during WW2.

Not to mention that the support given to ROC by US was outmatched by the support given to PRC by the Soviets.

You also forgot that there was a Kuomintang Islamic insurgency against the PRC in Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, and Yunnan until 1958.
That is not true the Kuomintang reserved some of their best division to fight the communists by avoiding confronting the Japanese. They retreat from Shanghai, Wuhan, Nanjing etc But politically it is costly for them because the Chinese masses see how incompetent they are. They got all kinds of weapons and advice from the US. They own the sky. In other words, they have equipment superiority!

The Soviet Union never trusted Mao they did not openly support him. But when the Soviets occupied Manchuria they stripped the Kwantung army of their weapon and when they left Manchuria, they gave them to the communists It was a superior strategy and better intelligence as well as a loss of support and legitimacy by even the military that won the day

You put a lot of faith in the Chinese military, which hasn't fought a major war in over 30 years. It failed to win against Vietnam 30+ years ago or against the US 70+ years ago. Neither has it been able to retake Taiwan for over half a century.

Going back to what you said....it'll be obvious if/when China moves it's missile launchers. Taiwan has a robust defense around the island which can intercept most, if not all, Chinese missiles.

If China sends "hundreds" of missiles then so will Taiwan.

Taiwan has missiles that can reach up to 600 km and is working on missiles that can reach up to 2,000 km practically able to hit anywhere in Eastern China.

Example:

View attachment 19345

It also has the Patriot ABM system, which has destroyed multiple Russian hypersonic cruise missiles so far, as well as home grown ABM systems with a range of 300 km.

They're also building more ABM sites. They also have loitering munitions that have a range of 1,000km and can fly for up to 100 hours, at a speed of 185 km/hr.

I really wouldn't underestimate Taiwan and overestimate China. 😂

China recently said that it doesn't care if it losses 100-600M people in a war with Taiwan. You can clearly see through this "statement" that they expect to lose millions, if not hundreds of millions, of people. :ROFLMAO:

If an ageing island with 25mil can win an industrial juggernaut with the world largest army(inc. reservist) and navy, then my dog can smoke pot too. lolol.

Launch missiles against us? You think we don't have ABM systems? The first to launch an attack will decimate whatever base each have. Taiwan can decimate Fujian at most and then what? Even with a US intervention, Taiwan might be lose. Look at Ukraine, you see any NATO boots? The most they can do are sanctions and weapons supply. You think you can easily supply Taiwan? LOL

Remember this, when nuclear powers fight, it is the end of humanity. The moment China launches, Russia launches. No retards in US are that stupid. The real reason China is not retaking Taiwan is due to economic reasons not military.
