@NGAD IS THE BEST

J-36 fighter jet is a looker IMO.

J-36 is designed with super cruise capability. With 3 high powered WS-10/15 engines, it can optimize its speed with extended range. This is not a subsonic stealth bomber like the B-2/21.
The thing with J36(with its size and 3 engines) is that it can serve multiple roles. With high speed/high altitude flying…using PL15/PL17 and other long range missiles…it can serve to snipe from very long ranges. Of course it can also serve as a bomber…has sufficient payload capacity. Due to the 3 engines…it will have sufficient power to have really powerful electronic warfare capabilities…or can probably use laser weapons(in the future). Or it can control multiple drones…serving as the brain. So many possibilities…

I wonder what the roles would end up being…and how it would play out on the future battlefield.

Physics says with extreme speed it can't be maneuverable and agile, and don't compare J36 with WW2 era piston engine plane lol, can P-38 goes beyond 2.5 Mach or 2,600 miles per hour?
A fast plane can also be very maneuverable. In fact, J-36 has very big wingspan to length ratio. This indicates it's built with maneuverability in mind.

A very fast plane indeed can also be very maneuverable during low speed, if it has great Thrust to Weight ratio, low wing loading, and advanced control surface. The very high speed mode to be execute only at very high altitude to minimize thermal due to drag.

The Chinese surely have done RCS tests on it, right?

Just for fun, can we try to guess its RCS values? Can anyone try just by looking at it? It doesn't have to be accurate as we're just playing guesswork here for fun, so let some of the experts here try! 👍

The animation of one J-36 versus eight F-22.

It is just for fun, and in the real life, the J-36 will most likely hunt down those eight raptors with its BVR a2a missiles instead with movie dogfight.

Flying so low over so many people?! That would be a goldmine for any western intelligence operatives in the area!

Yes, so the wingtip flight control surfaces is confirmed I guess, a very novel idea that hasn't been used before. I'm guessing these control surfaces act as air brakes and differential deflection to control yaw in lieu of a vertical rudder, rather like differential braking steering in a tank.
