Chinese Aircraft Carriers - Liaoning, Shandong, Fujian and the future

Swapping conventional power train with a nuclear one is probably close to entire system revamping.

I can see you don't have expertise in this area. A full system revamp is what China did to Liaoning when it acquired it to be a casino and later made an AC from it.
Swapping out propulsion system is different. Only the process of energy consumptions / power production changes. I'd suggest you read China's latest research on Thorium base miniature reactors for aircraft carrier use. It will help you understand China's direction and other details.

China will field 6 carriers in years to come. Liaoning, Shandong and Fujian will be converted into nuke AC's. China is going Thorium based tech for nuke propulsion of their AC's. Latest technology under development.

Liaoning and Shandong will stay conventional, but Fujian is already a PWR + gas turbine hybrid, and the current giant 120K tonnes supercarrier built in Dalian also belongs to this type.

And the next gen MSR supercarrier can be the CVN-20 at the earliest, if not mature enough to be mounted on a supercarrier, then perhaps CVN-21 or onward, and China will build a couple of more PWR + gas turbine hybrids like the CVN-19 which is currently being built.

The current one being built in Dalian is CVN-19, and it looks like an enlarged Fujian with optimized exhaust port for its gas turbine propulsion.

If you want the small beautiful island structure without the exhaust port, then you have to wait for the next-gen MSR based nuclear supercarrier.

China's current gen PWR based nuclear supercarriers are all hybridized with gas turbine, hence there is always an exhaust port being attached to the island structure.

Stop spreading BS and fake, none of the three carrier can and will be converted to CVN!

Fujian is a PWR + gas turbines hybrid, and if you still insist to disbelieve that, you can wait to see the formation of the CVN-19.

This monster is obviously a nuclear one, but it will also have a gas turbine exhaust port being attached to the rear side of its island structure.

The mockup carrier in Wuhan has already proved that the successor of Fujian also has an exhaust port albeit more optimized one that is not integrated with the main island structure like Fujian.

Jiangnan is building another conventional AC, did I miss some big news here?

I don't think that JN is building another Fujian because Fujian was initially converted from a conventional 80,000 tonnes carrier with steam catapults.

Although Fujian has increased the tonnage design with more reinforced armor, but its flight deck is still flawed with the bow section of the ship being too short, and the runway has been occupied by the two catapults in the bow section.

JN has given cue that their next supercarrier gonna be MSR based, which is completely revolutionary compared the current PWR based nuclear supercarriers.

If the MSR is not so mature to be ready to mount on the ship, then their next supercarrier probably gonna be a duplicate of the one that is being currently built in Dalian.

There is no fake. You didn't read my post properly. Which "3" are we talking about? Like I said, its a time issue. Wait and see.

Stop insulting others because you think you know everything. Some people may have a lot more experience than you can think of. Not everyone here is 22 year old fanboy!

Yes, totally agreed. But remember, China in reality is working on much advanced things than the world today. So the conversion I mentioned, will come after the Thorium related tech is tested properly.

What else is this other than BS and nonsense!!?? 🤡 :ROFLMAO:

... Liaoning, Shandong and Fujian will be converted into nuke AC's. ....

That's just utter BS and even if you are not a "22 year old fanboy", this is ridiculous to think the PLAN will convert any of the three CVs no CVNs.

I've learned many things in life. One is to not argue with an argumentative person. Because he will drag you to his level. Let's wait and see. Talk to me by 2030 on this subject.

Arguing is fine, so please explain how you convert a conventional boiler-equipped CV to a CVN?? ... cutting the whole deck, clearing the inner machinery, installing everything new ... and that should work both technically and economically?

So far I have seen only claims - and IMO nonsense claims - but not any argument!

1. It is unlikely that any large ship will be able to change to a different type of power system in the mid-term. The power systems of large ships are located in the bottom of the ship. It would cost more to replace a different type of power system than to build a new large ship. This is basic common sense.
The hull of a 100,000-ton aircraft carrier is not expensive. What's really expensive about it is all the equipment it carries inside.

2, All three of China's current aircraft carriers are not final batch built models. They are all transitional models.
The Type 001 (Liaoning) is a combat training aircraft carrier.
The Type 002 (Shandong) is the only current combat carrier, but it will be replaced by an electromagnetic catapult carrier.
The Type 003 (Fujian) is an electromagnetic catapult carrier, but it has major flaws. It is also a transitional carrier.
None of them make sense to be converted to CVN.
