A few hours ago, official PLA media released a video on Weibo.
The video features a description of PLA Naval Aviation University cadets conducting a confrontation training.
But, the trainer fighter jet featured in that video is very special and appears to be a latest model trainer fighter jet.
This trainer fighter has a DSI intake and it also has split deceleration rudder surfaces similar to those found on the J-36. These are features that have never been seen in any of the PLA's trainer fighters.

I didn't find the right thread to post this. Since PLA Naval Aviation University cadets are future PLA Naval Carrier Carrier Pilots, I'm posting it here for now.If doing so is not appropriate, please MOD move to the appropriate thread.

Your information is very comprehensive. It is indeed a JL-9G.
I've barely paid attention to this trainer fighter and I hadn't noticed that it came out in an improved version.

In recent years, China's military-industrial enterprises have grown too fast. They have introduced too many new toys. These new toys have completely captured everyone's attention. As for these old airplanes, no one pays attention to them. So much so that I just heard about the JL-9G for the first time today. No problem ... the DSI is indeed a typical Chinese feature and already widely used!

Any indication a second conventionally powered EMALS-equipped carrier, presumably made at a different yard, would have any major differences in its design?Interesting hint via Aji:

The OG Weibo: "The era of China's nuclear-powered aircraft carriers is approaching. The Fujian might potentially be the only conventional-powered EMALS-equipped carrier."
Ayi responded: "It won't be the only one."
