Baby born a day after Xizang earthquake, bringing hope amid challenges
As the morning sun rose early Wednesday, a baby was born at Xigaze People's Hospital -- the first newborn from the epicenter following the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in SW China's Xizang.
Despite nature's unpredictability, this new life symbolizes resilience and hope.
The local weather is becoming extremely frigid and windy, the container houses have gradually arrived which can effectively withstand the biting strong wind at night. each container house is equipped with an electric heater which can keep the inside room temperature above 10-15 degrees celsius even outside temperature drops to -20.
The government will make sure all earthquake victims can move into those container houses in the next couples of days.
Specialised high plateau kitchen cooking trucks cook delicious food for quake victims in Tibet. Due to the high altitude, it's very hard to properly cook the food in Tibet cause water can never reach the boiling point, but with the specailized equipments and utencils on these high plateau cooking trucks, cooking is just as easy as in the plain.
Tibet kids really enjoy the food cooked on the truck.
"Didn't expect that the temporary houses could've been ready in such a short time, we thought we would have to live in the tents for a month, never expected these temporary houses had been built and ready in merely 3 days."
Modular container houses include bedrooms,kitchens,bathrooms...all connected with electricity, electric heaters, running water, they are almost like proper homes.
At night the temperature can drop below -20 degrees celsius and it's very windy, tents are not good enough to fend off strong biting winter gusts.
