Chinese LHD / LAH Carriers - Type 075 & 076 and the future

Type 075 is likely to cost around 1 billion dollars. Make your own guess. The Type 071 LPD, a Chinese-made amphibious transport dock (LPD) ship, cost around $200 million for Thailand to purchase. Now compare that to American LPD class ship.
Chinese are considering any VTOL for AC ? or built in progress?

Will the Type 076 be called/considered a carrier globally? The length is nearly the same as the French carrier, with only missing an angled landing deck.

After watching the video, Perhaps the role of this ship will be “Littoral Marine Support Carrier”; just enough air power (fixed or rotary or mix) to support a certain sized Chinese unit of marines (or humanitarian aid), for use in conflict, it more likely in power projection; showing the flag, and SLOC defense as well as relationship building. Deployment in the Indian Ocean region and Pacific to build china’s image. This makes me speculate if China will increase the size of its “humanitarian corp”; medics, engineers to assist partners in foreign ports, etc.?

It’s also possible this ship could be the basis of an export offering, if a second catapult, angled deck, and more powerful engines are installed, while keeping the price under $2 billion. Depending on the customers the size of the hangar versus the size of the amphibious communities could be adjusted to fit the customers requirements.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Type 076 cost is $1.5 billion to account for the nearly 50% larger size and more modern and specialized equipment; such as the catapult. To equip the ship with its full complement of drones will probably cost at least the same amount; $1.5 billion, if not more. Any indication the drones (ground attack and air defense) will fly with a drone awacs (or manned awacs) to provide situation awareness?

If the ship uses the QC-280 (25-30 MW), I would hope the follow on has two catapults if the engine is upgraded with the even more powerful engines.

Any info if the ship uses the CGT-40 (42 MW) engines or the standard QC-280 engines?

Type 075 / 076 is hybrid amphibious assault carrier. Just like Bradley is hybrid tank which can carry troops, Type 075 / 076 is hybrid carrier which can carry amphibious assault landing crafts. Type 075 / 076 compared to Type 002 / 003 be like Bradley compared to Abrams.

Is it possible a follow on version of the Type 076 could be built with a single island (possibly due to use of a thorium reactor, as on the Type 004), freeing up space for a second catapult launch station in its place. In a similar arrangement to the port side catapults on US CVNs? A thorium reactor could also give the extra power needed to enable the use of two emals. Considering that deck segment we saw just come out, thoughts to be for the type 004, could probably be more likely for a follow on to the Type 076; a Type 076A.

The PLA Navy begins to mass equip new mechanical landing craft (For the Type 075/076 LHA).
Obviously, it was prepared for the “Taiwan Strait War”.
It is slightly smaller than the Type 726 LCAC, but it has comparable carrying capacity. One the Type 075/076 LHA can carry only two the Type 726 LCACs, but it can carry four of the new mechanical landing craft.

New generation surface combatants including FFGs and DDGs are in the making.

The current status of Type 076.
As a native of Sichuan, I don't know when I will be able to board this warship myself...
