Chinese LHD / LAH Carriers - Type 075 & 076 and the future

How many total now? I've been saying for months now, as China cranks out future numbers of the Fujian class AC's (8-10?), which take time to build, test and put in production, it's imperative that the Chinese military inducts a big number of these LHD's for combat drone operations projecting airpower across the globe.

One LHD supported by a few destroyers and frigates becomes a capable task force with drones serving as air warfare platforms, placed across the globe. Japan uses the LHD's for it's F-35B's. China will probably introduce a version of some VTOL platform also to make use of these flat tops.

If we develop a VTOL aircraft, 075s and 076 will suddenly become aircraft carriers.

I've been saying it for a long time. Since Shandong was being production ready :). That's the way to go

One, so far there is only one Type 076 … additional to the four operational Type 075

Since there is nobody to learn from regarding how to operate UAV carriers, I guess Type 076 is primarily serving the purpose of being the testbed.

I wonder if the EMALS of the Type 076 LHA can launch the J-35?

or will it be restricted to just UCAVS like GJ-11 ?

How would J-35 get on it in the first place and how would it get back?

does the Type 076 not have traps

how would the GJ-11 land ?
No traps. For small planes, they could land by themselves with brakes. Size matters.

076 only one.

Don't get so excited. It's just an experimental ship now, and its future is unknown. You're too optimistic.

There are two scenarios here. 1: I am "too optimistic" and 2: I know something.......

ok so if the EMALS has the power it can in theory launch and trap a J-35 fighter jet

I would therefore put this in the class of the America Class

and even exceeding it since J-35 is more capable than J35B which lacks real heavy range and power

PLA is not interested in VTOL. China will not develop VTOL, but will use drones.
