Boeing and Airbus also have many parts imported from various foreign suppliers, The reason that C919 recruited many foreign suppliers was to get easier foreign air worthiness approval and lobbying power from the foreign partners to help the plane to crack open western market, C919 is playing a long game, the domestic replacement of the engines had long been ready.

It was the pre-trade war components of the C919.

Before the trade war, most industry experts advocated China to use the integrated international supply chain that is deeply embedded with the western suppliers, especially for the commercial jetliner like the C919 that sought for the international market.

Nowadays, it is very different, China is seeking to make sure that the C919 and the incoming C929 to have 100% indigenous components.

And those foreign components need to be gradually phased out.

Thanks to Donald Trump who has initiated the de-globalization, and Joe Biden for maintaining his anti-globalization for another 4 years during his absence.

Otherwise, China wouldn't have snubbed and marginalized those pro-west so-called industry 'experts'.
